Owner description: There are few places in the United States that have retained their link to the past as Coweta County and Newnan, Georgia have. From the settlement of the town in 1828 to the new millennium, Newnan has kept the heart of Coweta beating with a firm grasp on its rich and colorful history, while looking forward and embracing the future.

Nice little town with history to enjoy. The town had lots of shop to peruse. I also went to an art display that was the Art club in that town. The square is the courthouse in the smack dab center.

“Fun on every corner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Typical southern county seat, with the court house in the middle of the square and shops on every surrounding street. There is a new park on the south end of town with a scenic trail. Some great restaurants on three corners of the square, One corner has a" to die for gun and knife store" that will take you back to the general store days, maybe back a century. If you think it is closed try the door.
Golden's country buffett and the Redneck cafe and another great restaurant in the old theater are across the street for the newly painted court house. There are painted horses on every corner and several antique shops down the block. There are several streets with antebellum homes that are fully restored. The square is 4 miles from Exit 47 off I-85.

“Great new restaurant Meat N Greet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

Fantastic new burger and salad joint. Unbelievably friendly staff with great food in this just opened space.

We recommend the full okra, the MGD burger and the onion strings. The bourbon pecan bars are amazing.

“Cute shops/ boutiques/ restaurants”

Of course always overpriced and nothing practical. But if you just want a novelty gift, you are in the right place.

“Southern history and friendly folks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

Although I've visited Newnan many times over the years -- it's the hometown of my father and grandparents -- I've never before had the occasion to stay for a full week and explore the city like a tourist. From the restored courthouse and its impressive courtroom -- still in use -- to the Carnegie Library, where you'll find snippets of history and a shelf of books by local authors old and new, the courthouse square forms the nucleus of a walking or driving tour. The square is home to a range of restaurants -- we enjoyed the Redneck Gourmet and the pizzeria -- and even an alehouse where you can take home your choice of growlers. At every turn people were helpful and welcoming, whether at the visitor information center located in the historic courthouse, at the Newnan Times-Herald office, or at the coffee shop & cafe on Jefferson Street that stayed open past the lunch hour when we needed a quick Internet connection. A wonderful place to visit!
