“Best hotel in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We spend a few nights here and have to say it is by far the best hotel in Milledgeville. I travel to this part of the world for business on a regular basis and always stay in a hotel belonging to a global group. This time my wife was joined me, so I decided to stay somewhere different. From now on I will stay here, or in the Soho Lofts (beautiful holiday apartments in the town center just opened by the same people) when I'm in the area.

Room Tip: All rooms are different but excellent. The twin room is the only room that does not have an en-suite...

This is what a B&B should be! The house is beautiful, it's spotlessly clean and the breakfast outstanding.
Matt is a welcome addition to this property, I enjoyed my stay a year ago, but he elevates the stay with exceptional service.
We stayed in the pool house this time. The bed is very comfortable with lovely linens and pillows.
The bathroom in the pool house is huge! And a full size kitchen and living room too.
Could not rate this one higher!
A must do - get coffee at Blackbird on the Main Street, fabulous and roasted on property.
The inn provides great quality shampoo, conditioner and soap. And slippers!
Loved it! Wait till you taste the breakfast !

The Antebellum Inn is well-run, clean, and exceptionally well-located near downtown, with comfortable rooms and a very good breakfast. If you are already planning to spend the night in Milledgeville, perhaps to visit a son or daughter attending college there, this is a very good choice--and not just because it offers the only rooms downtown. Matt, who manages the property, is an amiable host who does not take exclusivity for granted.

But I do not recommend this property to Georgia history enthusiasts who are looking for a destination inn, for reasons that start with its very serious misnaming: This home is not antebellum, it rather Victorian, built in 1890. The difference is highly relevant. The era in which the home was built was far less prosperous for the area than the years preceding the Civil War, and the home does not have the prized, fine appointments or old South grace typical of antebellum mansions. It is simply a large, comfortable home, likely preferable to the town's alternative rooms, but not what the name suggests.

The Inn has pictures to invite you there. Once inside though, one steps into a warm, cozy, laid back atmosphere where you feel at "home", except warm, caring, friendly people serve you a delicious breakfast, does your dishes, and makes your bed. I call that "PERFECT"!
Without cars driving up and down the streets, one feels the easy slow pace of yesteryear.
The trolly ride ( 2 hours) was truly inspiring, chocked full of interesting facts and stories about the people of the Antebellum era (though glossed over slavery issue) as we toured many houses and buildings. All the people on the tour were lovely and communicated warmly with each other (most were from the Inn so we also conversed at breakfast as well).
I found a really informative large paperback book for school kids about the civil war on the living room table. Super!!!! quick read. Accurate. Hope it stays there for people to read.
Mat, enjoyed are few chats regarding true hospitality, and definitely your delicious breakfast recipes and lots more.
Really wished I could have stayed a week or two.

Love this B&B! This quaint little house sits in downtown Milledgeville, GA off the main track. My wife and I stayed there over the July 4th holiday and stayed in Magnolia Room. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The amenities were plentiful and the staff treated us like family. While we had the run of the house, we preferred the comfortable room and its quiet settings. Love the big bed, also (as I'm not the smallest person around). Breakfast in the morning was delicious!

Milledgeville is a great place for sightseeing and there are many restaurants/bistros to choose from when hungry. We just love to shop for antiques - and there are several to choose from here, too!

Overall, for the price, this is a great place to stay and a wonderful city to visit - whether for a week or just a couple of days.

We look forward to returning in the future. Thanks, to the staff, for a wonderful stay!!!

Room Tip: Magnolia Room is probably the best room in the house. Worth the extra money!

The house is adorable. The owners have thought of every possible detail of your stay. Staff was very nice and friendly. The only drawback is the traffic. The house is located right near the college and at a 4 way stop so there is constant traffic. I would definitely stay at this B & B again given the opportunity.

What a beautiful place. The house and grounds were lovely, and the home is within walking distance of the historic downtown. We stayed in the Judge's Suite, which had its own private entrance from the porch, so we could just step out onto the porch, sit in the rocking chairs, and look over the neighborhood. We stayed two nights and I didn't want to leave. I hope to return someday.
