“Best Sichuan this side of China”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

I've checked out the best in San Fran and New York. I've been to Asia many times. In my opinion this is better Sichuan than any other I've tried outside of mainland China itself. But to experience it you must get the real Sichuan dishes. If you order the Americanized stuff it won't be any better than the average.

My recommendations are:
- Dry-fried Eggplant (I don't like eggplant usually. I love this stuff.)
- Fish with Sour Cabbage and Wild Pepper
- Braised Fish (actually, all of the fish dishes I've tried are fantastic.)
- Shan City Shrimp
- Hot and Numbing Crispy Beef
- Iron Plate Beef

The restaurant is kind of like going to a restaurant in China outside of the cities...the atmosphere isn't great, but the food is awesome. If you are looking for a rather authentic dish, try the Pickled Duck's Feet with Wild Pepper. It's a cold dish where the star is the texture of the flipper.

As for all the service comments, I don't get it. I've eaten there many times and have always had fine service. You have to flag them down from time to time if you need something, but they have _never_ been rude or unpleasant. They've always been friendly and kind, generally serving with a smile. But understand that this isn't a 'high-star' place where service is the star. If you are looking to have your ego stroked then go find some place run by a guy with a manicured beard that serves 'adventurous bistro cusine.'

But if you want real and delicious food, and you like to try different things, then this is your place.

“I love the extensive menu.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

The food at Tasty China is incredibly good. The fish dishes are my favorite. I've had some incredibly delicious duck dishes as well. I love the fact that they have a nice menu for vegetarians as well. My son doesn't eat meat, so it's always important that we eat at restaurants that include vegetarian dishes. The Monk's Delight is incredible. The Sizzling Tofu with Black Pepper Sauce is very good, but be prepared for the heat factor. It's very spicy! I'm determined to try everything on the menu.

“Put your big girl/boy pants on....you'll leave with a full stomach and a burning mouth!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013 via mobile

Great food. Recommend the chicken with 3 mushrooms and the Moo Shu Pork. If you're adventurous, go for the Dry and Numbing Beef and the Dan Dan Noodles. Food is worth all the awards for this restaurant. Service stinks.

“Szechuan - Oh Yea - If you like it Hot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Last night we went to Tasty China for dinner. My son likes food on the hotter, spicier side and he has been here before and likes it. You can get hot and regular meals, but if you order hot, you'll get hot. Our dishes were all very Szechuan hot, one almost too hot for him. My wife doesn't' like hot so there are alternatives for her taste. She had spring rolls and won ton soup; both excellent. The place isn't very big and the service started out slow but got better as the dinner progressed.
