J. Christopher's is a nice place to get a good breakfast, and there's a lot of consistency across all of their locations. The menu is quite wide, encompassing, and varied, even offering lunch fare for those who prefer typical options as opposed to brunch. The food is great and well-prepared also. Never remember having an issue with any food item I've ordered there. Their special coffee drinks, on the other hand, seem to be inherent with problems. One time, I was served a regular coffee after ordering a latte. This past instance, I ordered a special mocha latte, which didn't show up until the end of the meal as they were having issues with the machine. In their defense, they did remove it from the bill even without so much as a word from me, so that was nice.
Most of their portions are large enough to satisfy hearty appetites (like my own), but a few of the menu items are a little skimpy (such as the Eggs Benedict or the breakfast sandwhiches). The issue with that is their sides are quite expensive for what you get ($3 a piece for 3 sausage links or 3 strips of bacon?). This is surprising, because the rest of the menu is a good deal (99% of the meal options are under $10).
The service can be spotty. Its the type of place that hires a lot of high school/college kids to wait and bus tables, and some of them obviously just stick around for the paycheck each week. But, most of the time, they're nice and relatively attentive.
The one major downside of this place is the crowds. The place is typically busy, even during the week before 9am, but especially on the weekends. My advice is to get there early and prepare for a wait. They don't turn the tables around as quick as some other places (like the Marietta Diner or Cracker Barrel), but the wait isn't typically terrible. The longest we've waited was about 20 minutes, but that's because we arrived just after the church crowds and got behind a couple large groups.
