We found this B&B (60 Polk Street) on the internet and the website made it look fabulous. We wanted a place very close to the Marietta, Georgia historic square and the website said short walking distance. What they neglected to say was that you had to cross a main thoroughfare and climb up a hill to get there. The entrance to the B&B was through the back door....up a set of stairs and through the laundry area. That certainly didn't add to the ambience. Another steep set of stairs led to the upstairs bedrooms we had reserved. I will say that they were nicely decorated as were the public rooms downstairs.
The problems started when we attempted to go to sleep. The first train that whistled by about startled me out of my bed....they then proceeded to come through regularly all night long. My friend across the hall got no sleep and I spent the night dozing off to be awakened with every whistle. In addition, the upstairs rooms were very cold with no visible means to heat them. The "hosts" seemed to disappear from the premises after 7PM.
Breakfast was served at 9AM....certainly no "southern hospitality" there. Undercooked pancakes, heat and serve sausages and tiny muffins. We had originally made reservations for two days and prepaid the first night. We understood that there was a 3 day cancellation policy but there was no minimum stay required. We advised our "Host" that we were not staying the second night and he said the cancellation policy applied to that night. We were charged the $200+ for the second night even though we did not stay.
My recommendation is if you don't mind stairs, bad food, constant trains and disinterested hosts....this place may work for you. We will never return or recommend.
