“Average Interstate Hotel”

Crowne Plaza Hotel Atlanta-Marietta

Jun 24, 2008

Priced right at $119. Clean but a little worn down, looks like an upgraded old Holiday Inn property. Fitness center had 4 tredmills (mine was worn), a nautilus, eliptical and bike. Can't believe they crammed them all into one room, had to climb over equipment to get to others. Had a need "sleep package" with blinders, white noise CD and ear plugs. REalized that it was for paper thin walls and doors once I crashed. Applebees across the street and a Hardey's in the parking lot. Not bad but not great either - probably the best hotel in that area considering.

Upon arrival at the resort we were nervous from the reviews but once in the lobby we quickly were amazed!

The lobby "ladies" were very friendly and helpful, throughout our stay we would chat with them while waiting for our daughter. We booked a king room and when we opened the door a sense of shock came over us......what a nice room! The room was a corner room so we could go out on our large balcony! The room was equipped with a mini bar area with sink, fridge, desk and chair, and the usual TV, nightstand, bed (!), table. They provided us with a sleep kit that included eye mask, sleep cd, pillow mist, night light, and curtain clip. That was a nice added bonus.
We also had a coffee maker but were disappointed because it only makes coffee for one person which means we had to steal coffee from a maid cart in order to get more than one cup!

The maid did a wonderful job of cleaning each day and met our requests. The conceirge gentleman was very informative and friendly!

A few negatives:

The restaurant had EXTREMLY slow service. We were the ONLY ONES in there at lunch and it took over 30 mintues to get a sandwich. And the Lounge was closed because they didn't get their liquor license but they were wokring on it. We were disappointed because we thought since they advertise a lounge they would be open. Wrong we were. And when we asked when they would have it open they told us hopefully in a day or so. We stayed 4 nights and it still wasn't open.

All in all it was a great hotel, I would suggest this for business travelers. It is located right off the interstate so it was easy to get to!

“Best in Marietta? Not”

Crowne Plaza Hotel Atlanta-Marietta

May 15, 2008

Let me be clear from the outset here. This is not a bad hotel. Heck, in many parts of the country, I'd probably consider this a great hotel - at least in comparison to it's competition. However, my company has their headquarters in Marietta, so I end up staying here a lot, and I can think of at least three other properties within the city that I had a much better impression of. During my stay I experienced several problems, none of which I would consider major. One of the elevators was out of service, appently marked as out of commission by a Wet Floor sign. Maybe that was the only sign they had. The only recumbant bike in the fitness center was broken and not marked as out of order. I was told that this property didn't have suites-don't know what was up with that. My main impression of this place, though, was that it was inferior in quality to the other major chains' properties of comparable class. Cheap exercise equipment, old CRT (tube) TVs, their "Club Lounge" was just an unmodified hotel room. There's nothing like passing an open bathroom door with a view of a toilet when entering club lounge to say "classy". On the plus side, parking and internet access were both free, but that is also typical for this area and class of hotel. I also want to commend the Customer Service Manager, who seemed genuinely concerned about my impression of her hotel. I really do appreciate that.

“Best in Marietta”

Crowne Plaza Hotel Atlanta-Marietta

Got a suite with a wrap around balcony. Had an adjoining door that freaked me out. Mirrored closet and also a full length mirror. Shower is nice and clean but low flow. Kind of small bathroom. Had a sink area though with a coffeemaker. There was a good size fridge behind a door on TV cabinet - biggest I've seen so far at a hotel with a little freezer compartment too! Good size room. The thermostat, although central air, is not digital - took a little getting used to. Location was good - near a lot of food places. There were a couple clubs that were right there and it could get loud on the weekends - so request a room away from that corner if you can. 3 elevators. Was a member of priority club so I was able to get free continental breakfast if I'd wanted. The room service is good-had breakfast one morning. The business center doesn't charge you for computer use or printing! That was a definate plus! Anytime i needed anything, they were very quick. All in all, it was a nice place to stay with no major problems at all. Very close to Life University and Southern Poly. Not far from the Square either. Cobb parkway is right there with the Marietta Diner - which has a huge selection of food and desserts!!

I just joined the Priority Club and called in about booking a hotel for a weekend in Atlanta. The Crowne Plaza Marietta had good rates so I went for it. They ICH guy on the phone convinced me to upgrade to Club Level for only $5 extra and I was told that It would be quiet, larger and would be key access only. Pretty sweet for $5 extra.

Upon arrival, it was fantastic. They gave us free drink cards and were so pleasant. But, we didn't have key access, even though the sign outside the elevator on our floor said "Club Level." No big deal, no key, who cares.

Then midnight came and a bus of marching band kids unloaded at the hotel and onto our floor slamming doors, screaming down the hall. I was really confused since I was supposed to be on the Quiet Level. After two phone calls, the staff refunded us our money and apologized. They called after they sent a security guard up to check on us, but they were high school kids, what can you expect.

I was not mad at the hotel staff but rather at the ICH guy for misleading us to believe that this was an adults only floor where we'd be undisturbed. Instead we had a bunch of High school kids being high school kids on our floor and we could hear their entire conversation and yells running, etc.

Basically, don't trust club level at this hotel, as it doesn't exist and make sure you don't have a marching band. Although the staff was great, the misleading info from the get go made our stay less than pleasant.

    • Disliked — noisy thin walls, and not really on the club level
