“Valenti's is Gone - New Fortunato' s Iffy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

The new owners don't have the same committment to food and service as Valenti's did.

Pizza very dry even with the extra sauce we ordered, most likely will not revisit unless
we get a blizzard, (I can walk from home). Too bad, a nice family Italian place is now
Italian in name only and not very nice.

“Great Find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

We happened along on this place a few days after it opened. The service staff is very friendly. They have a bar and ample tables and booths for diners. Someone was playing the piano and taking requests the evening we were there. Before the live music started they had Sinatra and Martin music coming through the sound system. Very nice! We ordered the steak for 2. It was huge, and we ended up taking leftovers home. It was delicious. It was very tender and came sliced so it wasn't hard to serve yourself. I really enjoyed this steak over the typical steakhouse fare. It came with a side for two and bread. An overall good experience and we will go back.

“Outstanding Family Friendly Italian Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

This is our third time visiting this local restaurant, but this time it was under new management . While we liked it before, it is even better now. They refurbished, put carpet on the floor, added a piano, and have made it much more inviting. The food is outstanding no matter what you order. Their wines are excellent and reasonable. They have a wonderful kids menu with all the kid favorites...and pizza to die for. Our server, Kevin, was knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and charming. He added to our great family dinner. Don't miss their nightly specials! Check it out. You will be glad you did.

“No Longer in Business, unfortunately”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

I liked it; too bad. Not sure why they closed but it's a shame they aren't there any more. A new restaurant is apparently going to move into the space sometime soon,

“Not As Good Second Time Around”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

In my first review, food was great, service was great, and we had an enjoyable time. I couldn't figure out where all the bad reviews were coming from. Then, we went back for a second visit, and I began to see what some reviews were complaining about.

The second visit was almost a complete 180 from the first. The service this time around was less than accomplished. Even though the restaurant was empty, again (though the bar area did fill up later on as we left), our new waiter vanished for extended periods, left our water glasses empty numerous times, didn't offer anymore bread until our meal arrived (we had finished it about 10 minutes prior), and even delivered us the food for the one other table that was seated (yes, he messed up just 2 table's orders). He didn't even know little things about the menu. In such a small place, it's difficult to lose sight of your waiter for more than a minute or two at a time. Though we did see him playing on his phone in the other room a couple times.

The food was also less-than-stellar at this go around. I got the 'famous' black truffle pizza, which apparently won a 'Best Meal' award from Creative Loafing not long ago. Not sure who the judges were, but this pizza was not enjoyable at all. The problem was that, along with the slices of black truffle, the pizza was doused with black truffle oil as well. That's all you could taste on the pie. Not to mention that the pizza was slightly overcooked with some burnt edges. Couldn't even finish it because the truffle taste was so overpowering. I don't recall what my wife ordered, but she did say it wasn't as good as the first time we visited.

With all that said, it's no surprise that they recently closed up for good (from what I've heard). With spotty food and inconsistent service there's no way any restaurant will survive. Though I'm sure the owner will probably reassure himself that it failed because the 'East Cobb Snobs' didn't care to embrace anything new. However, I think most did, but realized this place wasn't worth embracing.
