“Great Steak and Shrimp”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013 via mobile

First time back in seven years and still great. Service was good and meal pace was very efficient. I had the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. My wife had the grilled shrimp and loved it. Also enjoyed specialty martini's afterward...nothing special on the drinks, but served the purpose. The also had a local young man singing which added to the great environment. Would definitely recommend it if you are in Madison.

“Ok, but not great.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013 via mobile

We went in for late lunch/early dinner.
Seated quickly. Service was a lite slow, our server was not trained very well as he did not know the menu well and had to go ask someone else about some of the listings.
Food was pretty good with sizable portions.
Overall I would probably give the restaurant a B-.
Would go back to see if maybe this was just a down day.

“Ain't what it used to be”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013 via mobile

We have a big cycling event in Madison, Ga every year and I always look forward to eating at the Chop House. Unfortunately, this year was a big disappointment. We ate there two different nights. The first night I had lasagna and it was lousy. The next night I had chopped steak and it looked like a frozen patty and the sweet potato was not cooked all the way. I'm very disappointed in what used to be one of my favorite places....

“Manager: where r u?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Looking for lunch, we were told that the BLT here was great. So despite other less than enthusiastic reviews we decided to give it a try, attracted in part by the prospect of sitting outside on a beautiful day. What we received was we both agreed, a waste of money. Fried (not toasted as we had specifically asked) bread left the inside of the sandwich damp and gooey ~ had it been prepared some time in advance, we wondered?

The waiter forgot to bring a fork after taking away the first following a side salad (which it turned out he billed for as a supplement, which he agreed was inappropriate). Thus we had to go inside and fetch one since there was no staff in sight. The discovery that the "L" in the BLT was almost invisible necessitated another trip inside to request some extra. What was delivered a few minutes later was a room temperature, limp, single leaf on a small plate.

We decided to be candid when the bill was brought and the question asked "how was your meal?", and pointed out that 3 trips by a guest inside for service (the first when no one brought us a menu) was not an encouraging sign for any restaurant. Nor were the aforementioned shortcomings in what shld hv been a pretty straight fwd sandwich to prepare. To his credit, he volunteered that the quality of the output was a function of the kitchen staff on duty. We didn't hv the heart to point out that had he been a more alert waiter, he shldnt have waited until the meals end to take an interest in whether his kitchen colleagues' shortcomings might impact guests at his tables!

If and until mgmt @ this resto takes a greater interest in quality control, we advise other readers vote will their feet and steer clear of this place.

“Nic place for business travelers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

I visit this establishment every so often, the prime rib is very good. Its hard find one that is better, good food and service.
The servings are generous on all dishes.
