“Nicest choice halfway from Atlanta to Orlando”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2009

We needed a place to rest over for 1 night on the way to Florida. Valdosta is a good halfway point, but most of the chains in the actual Valdosta area were over $100 a night - crazy. We found this Hampton Inn which is about 13 miles from downtown Valdosta, in an area called Lake Park. The hotel is very nice and well maintained. Certainly looked like the best choice on this exit. Nice atrium, friendly staff. Our room was large, plain but it was what we needed. Breakfast (complimentary) was a good selection and always a nice touch. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed at this hotel on a trip to St. Pete's Beach. It was the halfway point, so a good stopping place for the night. We booked the room quickly online and got a good price. Bad thing was the air conditioning didn't work- and with 6 people in the room it got stuff quick. We notified the front desk who called maintenance at midnight and the maintenance guy never returned their call. We were told that they had no other rooms to move us to, and then they offered to move us to another hotel, but three of the kids were already asleep. We stayed the night and were not charged for the room as part of their 100% satisfaction guarantee. On the good side the room was very clean, and the hotel itself was very nice. Only other comment I'll make is on the rude guests who decided that the free breakfast was an invitation to load up their travel lunch bag with fruit and food. I had a hard time getting enough food for my kids because they were toting food off like crazy.

The GOOD:We stayed for one night. The room was nice. Breakfast was very good. Very nice location.
The NOT-SO-GOOD: Upon arrival we inquired if it would be a problem if we paid with cash instead of using the card we used to reserve the room. Night clerk said there wasn't a problem doing that. The hotel proceeded to charge our credit card with an additional room fee after we paid with cash. When confronted the night desk clerks they claimed they didn't know why the charge was taken in addition of paying in cash. After that confrontation an additional $16 and $90 were also added to the card. The night crew told us to talk to the day clerk. We talked to her the next morning and she said the night clerks charged the charges knowingly, but she was sooo accommodating and all charges were removed and she gave us a discount. So I was very pleased with the day clerk and her service. The hotel is very nice however, if staying be sure and check your charges.

We had a wonderful experience at the Hampton Inn in Lake Park, GA. There were 6 rooms of our family there for a memorial service for my mother. I made reservations directly with the hotel and the customer service is superb. The breakfast area is very nice and the offerings there are more than adequate. The rooms were clean and well-appointed and the warm cookies served at night were a big hit with all the kids! There are several chain restaurants within walking distance and the hotel is located close to I-75. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again when I'm in the area.

We stayed overnight on the way back from a Florida vacation. The location is very convenient off of the interstate. Check-in was very easy as everything was all ready for us. The atrium lobby has a nice visual appeal, with standard Hampton breakfast with hot and cold items. The room itself was generally clean, but we were struck about the number of things that appeared to be a bit carelessly constructed or applied (vent covers crooked, repairs with paint splotches, door with a tilt, fountain in the lobby with exposed pipes/hoses). These things were functional, and generally no harm resulted from these, except that it seemed that having a door that didn't fit in the frame properly resulted in our hearing more hallway noise than we would have liked. We would stay again if in the area, though it would be nice if all of the rooms had microwaves/refrigerators as many other Hamptons do. Cracker Barrel is immediately next door.

After checking on tripadvisor.com we decided to go for the Hampton Inn Valdosta/Lake Park Area for one night on our way from Atlanta to Orlando - and I am happy to say that we did not regret this decision at any point.
Check-in was great, I had booked the room through Hampton Inn's website and they had everything ready for us, only needed a credit card and we were all set. The room was nice, bed was amazingly comfortable - and the only thing I could complain about was that you could hear the noise from the highway, but then, what do you expect from a hotel directly located next to the highway. And being extremely tired from a trans-atlantic flight and 3 hours drive, I slept like a baby.
Breakfast was included, in addition to the usual stuff they also have hot waffles, fresh fruit, nothing extraordinary, but everything we needed.
All in all, I can only highly recommend this hotel, the price was good, great choice!
