“You get what you pay for... I guess?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

My husband and I took a weekend trip to Cloudland Canyon. We decided to stay in Lafayette, which was about 30 minutes away instead of staying at one of the cabins that were $140 per night.

Pros
-For $5 we were allowed to bring our dog
-Great water pressure in the shower
-Small breakfast (bananas, frosted flakes, toast)

Cons
-Waited a good 5 minutes at the front desk to check in. Had to use my cell and call them for someone to come out of the back to get checked in. There was no service bell and saying "hello" a few times did no good.
-One key card didn't work, the other one we had to try 3-4 times before it would work.
- The bed did not have a fitted sheet, just two flat sheets. In the morning we were mainly sleeping on the mattress.
- There was mold along the bottom and up the sides of the shower curtain
- Two of the hand towels had stains on them
- There were only two very small thin bath towels provided.

I am usually pretty easy going when it comes to hotels, but this one had too many strikes. Next time we visit Cloudland Canyon we will try staying at the Key West Hotel that was next door.

I used to travel in different country, so it's the first time i booked an hotel like this one, first impression : dirty room with splatters on the wall, hairs (not mine) in the bed, cockroach in the bathroom, wifi access doesn't work, i have to go to the office for that, very easy... the swimming pool was dirty, water look like the bayou close to this location, nice mushroom grow up on the grass and the people who rent the other room seem's to be dealers and prostitutes.

we rent two room with another couple of mates and we left the hotel without sleeping there and the recepionnist dont want to give back money, what a trap !!!

go away if you are looking for a clean and safe hotel !!!

Room Tip: finaly we find a good guest house called blue moon in the " real" center of lafayette

After staying here I will think twice about this hotel.Had to ask for washcloths after we had checked in.Room was already cleaned but there were no washcloths left.My wife was checking out the refridgerator and microwave and noticed roaches in the microwave.Next day she made coffee and we departed for the day, came back later that evening room had been made up, but what did we see her used coffee cup placed in with the unused one and no condiments were replaced at all.Later that evening we noticed a lot more roaches in the room.Opened night stand and they were everywhere. So price was good for the room but need to do something about the BUGS.

This hotel had everything it said on the website in great working condition (microwave, fridge, free wifi). The staff was nice and helpful. The pool was clean as well as the room. The office/ breakfast area is being remodeled. Most of the time they were already out of waffle mix when we went and they always went out of their way to make more. Room service came all 5 days we stayed and offered to take out the trash and provide clean towels/ washcloths. My only real complaint is that the king bed didn't have a fitted sheet on the mattress- it was a flat sheet tucked under, so everytime we moved so did the sheet. Not sure if different sized beds are the same way. Would probably stay here again if they fixed the sheet issue!

Selected this Hotel as it was close by family we were visiting and the rates were good. Pictures on the website were nice. There was only one other Hotel available and they were fully booked. When we arrived the hotel looked OK from the outside but the room left a lot to be desired. The carpet was really dirty. Could and would not walk on it in bare feet. The Shower curtain was dirty and most of the bathroom linens were the color grey. Were once white but someone must not know about bleach or fabric softner. The beds were a real mess. The sheets were stained and discolored. One of them had a large burn hole in it that still had rough material around the edges. A sure sign that they had not been washed. The bottom sheets do not tuck in and if you move on the bed the sheets move with you becoming one big lump as the night goes on. Pillows are uncomfortable and again the linens were discolored. We ended up bringing in a travel blanket from the car and sleeping on top of the comforter. There is a fridge in the room but the temperature inside is luke warm. AC unit was so loud that the TV had to be on a very loud volume in order to be heard. TV picture was also blurry. Outside traffic noises are loud inside the room. Could be due to the large area of space around the door that is open to the outside. No weather stripping on these doors. You can actually see movement outside your door by looking through the cracks around the door when it is closed. Door was also very difficult to open. Had to push very hard. Should have been our first clue. I would like to know where the "hot" breakfast came in. The only thing available is cereal, and pastries. There was a microwave in the lobby that I suppose you could use to warm up the pastries. The free wi-fi is one machine in the hotel Lobby. The Lobby is actually just a small room with one table for those partaking of the "hot breakfast". It also smells bad, really bad. They did accept pets which was one good thing I can say but I would not stay there again. I would drive the short distance to one of the neighboring cites and find a room there. Which is what we did for the remainder of the trip. The pictures on this website are very deceiving. Close up is extremely different from what is visible on youir computer screen.

Two-story, drive-up style motel. Attractive and nicely landscaped outside, pleasant and comfortable inside.

Basic, starchy breakfast with waffles and bananas.

On the zero-to-ten courtesy/friendliness/hospitality scale, I'd rate them at four.

Good value.
