Last year, during our visit to Jekyll Island, we decided to attend the afternoon High Tea at the Jekyll Island Hotel. We were blown away with the experience of delicious scones, array of finger sandwiches, desserts and wonderful varieties of teas. But, we especially enjoyed the service of the hostess Denice, who really made the experience very special and personable. So, during our visit to the island this year in November with family, I praised the high tea highly to them and insisted that we must go. But, alas....we found that Denice had retired the previous week. The scones were still there, but somehow, they seemed not quite of the same quality nor were the sandwiches and desserts. In addition, the water for the tea was only lukewarm. This was quickly changed to steaming hot water when it was brought to the attention of the hostess. The hostess was also attentive and accommodating to our needs. Overall, it was still a good experience and we will hopefully have the opportunity to attend next year as well.
