I'd rather eat what washes up on shore

I should have known from the empty parking lot that this place would suck; but, no we still gave it a try. The food is overpriced swill. The shrimp I ordered would have tasted good about three weeks ago & the creole rice they served it with was just a pile of mush. Save your money & eat out of your hotel's vending machines. Trust me. The highlight of my night was spent sticking my finger down my throat later.

This restaurant is in a great location. It is directly on the water. That is the end of positive things I can write about it.

The man who waited on us had an attitude. He obviously hated his job. The restaurant was practically empty and when we were seated next to a party of 12 or so ladies having a get-together we asked if we could move just 10 feet away to another table. You would have thought we were asking for one of his kidneys. He gave us a blank stare like he thought this request was completely outlandish and then said to go ahead. He was one of only two waiters on duty so it wasn't as if he would be losing a table at his station or as if we would be in an inconvenient location for him to trek to. He was simply an unpleasant sort of person.

We weren't brought any bread, which we noticed other tables got. We didn't bother asking for any because we heard the lady at the table behind ours complain that her bread was cold. I paid an extra $3 or so dollars to substitute a side salad for the vegetable side that came with the meal. The waiter arrived at our table with the salad AND the entrees. Why didn't he bring the salad while we were waiting the twenty minutes for our food? Who wants to eat their salad while their entree is getting cold? The waiter just didn't want to be bothered. Plus I had ordered a side of deviled crab and crab cakes at around $6 each since my husband and I were splitting the shrimp. Before ordering, I had asked the waiter if these were made in-house and he had replied yes. I said that I'd like to try each of them. Well, the items were identical. After the items were delivered to our table, I asked the waiter why he hadn't bothered to tell me that the stuffing used in the deviled crab was the exact same thing as the crab cake. If I hadn't asked for any information and just placed the order then it would be solely my fault. But I had asked him to elaborate on those items and asked for specific information before requesting those items. At the end of the meal, he told me that it was the slow season so the cooks were probably just using the same crab mixture for everything.

On top of the awful service, the food was terrible. The crab wasn't any good. We left most of it on the plates. The fried shrimp was flavorless and the tartar sauce was yucky. Later that night I felt ill and suspect the crab mixture to be the culprit. It wasn't that warm in the middle when I ate it and as a person who cooks a lot herself, I know that the stuffing contains eggs. Probably it was kept for too long or wasn't thoroughly cooked.

You have been warned.

Terrible service. Food was just OK. I wish we had walked out after waiting over 20 minutes for our water!

Let me start by saying the food was good. If that's all that matters to you, you'll do just fine. It was the first place we found upon our arrival to Jekyll Island. It was right on the beach. We walked around back to the entrance, and there is nothing that lets you know you're in the right place. Including the pregnant, bored "hostess" who rolled her eyes and said "Yeah" when I asked if this was the restaurant, "Yeah" when I asked if they were open, and "Yeah" when I asked if they could seat 4 people. We were brought into a boring room with brown panelling and windows facing the ocean. The windows were running with water from condensation so there was no view, and the room was haphazardly decorated for Halloween which fought the nautical theme they were going for. My mother and I finished our meals, and the busboy tried to take our plates although our dining companions were not finished and were sharing tastes of their meals with us. We told him we wished to keep our plates a little longer, but when we weren't looking or were engrossed in conversation, the waitress managed to scoop the plates away, even though I had just been given french fries and had just placed a fresh dollop of ketchup on it. Upon later reading in the paper, it was noted that this restaurant is slated for demolition which is why it looks and is so dumpy.

This is not the place to eat if you are in a hurry as the service is extremely slow. Food is good, though. Fried flounder, scallops, shrimp, baked potato, and broccoli were all good. Servers are friendly but slow and don't see need to clear tables as patrons leave.
