“First Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

I thought the hotel was very nice. The room we had was rather small and we didn't have a very good view. However, the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely like to stay again sometime.

I stayed here with my husband to do a media review of the property. I expected "old" but what I got was "charming". I expected "small" but what I got was "quaint". This is a luxury family hotel full of history, where an empty rocking chair on the verandah awaits my return. What a great resort!

Our last visit was 17 years ago and we were so happy to be back at the Hotel. We had a lovely porch room in the Annex (both 17 years ago and this trip). Morning coffee and pastries from Cafe Solterra, the breakfast buffet in the Main Dining room, and the pool grill (great grilled chicken salad and bloody mary's!!) made for a wonderful 5 days.

My family used to come to Jekyll Island in the late '80s and '90s when if first (re)opened. This was my first return visit in over 20 years, and the hotel has retained its charm and luster. Food, accommodations, amenities, layout and location are all first rate and first class, as fit the Club's storied past. Dinner in the main dining room was superb. The island has grown up around the hotel but does not intrude; the Club retains its splendid isolation. Great place to relax and unwind. Driftwood beach is a must see.

Room Tip: Have stayed in both the main club and the Annex. Annex is great for families that want adjoining roo...

Recent family vacation to Jekyll island was made special by the hospitality if the Clyb hotel . It is a must see and great location , with access to a number of historical buildings. The grove which the hotel is located is spectacular. The only negative was the squeeky beds that drove us crazy at night. Great service is part o the club feel , with bellman helping with everything you need.

You just feel fancy being here. We stayed in one of the beautiful cottages and walking around you can picture the early American wealthy staying here. I liked reading the historical markers all over the property about who lived there and when and seeing the old pictures. The grounds are immaculate and the moss hanging from the trees beautiful. I was impressed with my first visit here.

We flew in to the small airport adjacent to the hotel and they quickly came to pick us up. Check in was easy and they offered us all kinds of options for fun. The room was quaint clean and quiet, just what we ordered. We took bikes around the island, play croquet on their beautifully tended field (although we didn't pack the traditional white outfits), we had one dinner in house and it was delicious. We toured the plantation taking advantage of the unique shops and checking out the antebellum architecture. The breakfast buffet left us thinking mid morning nap! Lunch at Cafe Solterra was delicious, we went back for seconds on soup.
I had them deliver a bottle of wine to our room for arrival and it made for the perfect Valentines day.
