“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014 via mobile

This is one of the best Hampton Inns we have stayed in. For Jekyll Island there is not a whole lot of options. The rooms are huge, great bar with food til 10pm! Pool is great. FYI..it does not overlook the ocean. It is behind the dunes w access to the beach. Pool side rooms have balcony but can be noisy and there is no breeze. Shuttle will take you to any restaurant. Will definitely come back for a weekend!

I stayed here recently for a conference. Although the hotel was packed with a number of different groups and every room was booked, the service was excellent.

The housekeeping staff members at this Hampton Inn are truly heroic. Guests head out to the beach and then return with sandy feet. Despite this, the hotel is very clean. (The poolside foot washers weren't operational during our stay, which added to the housekeeping challenge.)

The hot breakfast is good and we liked having a mini-fridge and microwave in our room. We also appreciated the coffee and tea available in the lobby 24/7. The outdoor pool setting is lovely, with several inviting conversation areas.

Add to this well-managed and nicely appointed hotel a fabulous boardwalk to the beach, lined with beautiful live oaks ... we decided to play hooky from part of our conference so we'd have more time to enjoy the scenery and beach access afforded by this excellent Hampton Inn.

(We couldn't get a public television station on the TV in our room. Does Jekyll not get a public television signal or were we just clueless in working the remote? No biggie ... back to the beach.)

If you like the beach, this is the place to stay.

As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I've stayed at a lot of Hampton Inns all over the country. Although the hotel itself is very nice and surely up to the best of Hilton standards, the grounds are absolutely the best I've ever seen at almost any hotel. Beautiful.

This hotel is a bit outside the historic district. You will need a car to get there as well as to the north end beaches where the "drift wood" abides. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful at check in. The breakfast was not as good as we've had at other Hampton's. The coffee was really weak and bad. The staff closed down at 9:45 when things should have been open until 10am. Our biggest complaint is the noise and disruption from the many high school students staying in the hotel following their prom. I understand this is a difficult problem to address. But when we were still awake at 2am from screaming in the halls and slamming doors, we called to report them yelling from their balconies to friends by the pool. We were told that it was students from the prom. At 3am we called again about noise on the 3rd floor. The response was for us to identify the room the noise was coming from. That was not possible nor our responsibility. My suggestion is to house these types of parties on the first floor and near the reception area. At least it would reduce elevator use, and roaming from floor to floor with doors banging and floors pounding. Otherwise, there should be extra staff on hand monitoring the floors and elevators for noise. I also question how kids this age can be in mixed gender rooms without an adult registering with them.

Room Tip: Don't stay here during prom season!

Thanks for taking the time to share the feedback about your stay. I apologize about your experience with the noise throughout the property – it certainly isn’t your responsibility to monitor and I’m sorry the interactions with staff came off that way. We are constantly looking for the best ways to make sure every guest’s stay is enjoyable and I’ll take your feedback into account when we look at working with these groups in the future and we hope you’ll visit again and enjoy a proper night’s rest.

The hotel was easy to find, of course Jekyll is a small island, so finding any location there should be a breeze. Check-in went without a hitch, and when I arrived at my room I was pleasantly surprised to discover it furnished with an HD TV, and a number of HD channels available as well. Bed was big and comfortable; no complaints about sleep quality. I liked the hot breakfasts available every morning. I had the chance to talk with two of the bartenders who work the hotel lounge. Good guys, and pretty knowledgeable about what to see and do in the area, or maybe a chat about good bourbons or Scotch??? They had Buffalo Trace available there, as well as Woodford Reserve. Both good choices, if you drink bourbon occasionally. Hotel had a nice outdoor pool, exercise room, business area with two computers with some big monitors, and the ability to print out whatever you may need to print without extra charge. The location right by the ocean was ideal, just a little walk over the boardwalk by the pool area and there you are on the beach. Hotel is very family oriented, and pet friendly. I saw many guests had their dogs with them, so no worries there for people who travel with their furry family members! Also, there were a couple of hookups for guests using the Red Bug electric cars, so you can charge the battery in these cars at this hotel if you choose to drive one of those while on the island. All in all, no complaints here; the folks at the Hampton Inn made my stay on Jekyll Island very relaxing. I'd go back there again.

Who designs these things? the fan in the bathroom was noisy and it was not controlled by the light switch but was motion sensitive. So every time you went near it, it came on and then ran for about 5 minutes. Really annoying. Hotel was okay otherwise although the pool didn't look very clean. Was unimpressed with Jekyll Island. Nothing to do and few places to eat.
