“Nice but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

The location is great because you are only a short walk from the beach. The pool area is also very nice. My kids loved it. This is the nicest Hampton Inn I've ever stayed in but my two issues were with the noise in the hotel and the complimentary breakfast. I realize the breakfast is complimentary but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be good. They didn't replenish the food quickly enough for the people who were waiting and they only had sugar-free syrup (which did not taste good) for the waffles/french toast. As to the noise, I didn't realize this hotel allowed dogs until I could hear them barking in the rooms nearby so anyone staying here should be aware of that. Also we were on the third floor and the noise from the fourth floor was almost unbearable on the first night. Luckily our room did not overlook the pool area which I think would also be very noisy.

We changed our minds last minute about staying in nearby Brunswick and stayed instead on Jekyll Island, and it was a great choice! This is one of the nicest Hampton Inns I have ever stayed in, and the location can't be beat. The hotel was completed in late 2010, so it still has a lot of elements of being new. Everything was exceptionally clean and well apportioned.

The hotel is situated about 75-100 yards off the beach so it's to oceanfront, but it is definitely oceanside as they bill it. The pool area is terrific with a whirlpool, children's pool and a zero-entry pool that was a good size. We were ale to stay in the large shallow end with our 17-month old son while lots of kids were playing in the deeper end, and we never felt bothered.

From the pool, the hotel has built a beautiful wooden boardwalk through the trees and dunes to the beach. And what a great beach it is! In mid-June the water was already bath water temperature, and the sandis perfect for little kids. It is not dig-your-toes-in sand, but rather a smooth flat surface perfect for walking, running or riding bikes. There were very few waves, and those that were there we're very gentle and allowed for easy wading in the ocean.

We had a large king suite that was perfect. It had a room with a small divider, so it was not a true suite, but there was plenty of room to move about, and it also had a large bathroom.

Breakfast was great and not just because it was free. Everything was hot and fresh, and there was plenty to go around even though the hotel was packed. Plenty of seating, too. The hotel also had a bar that served appetizer-type food along with some sandwiches. You could sit inside or order from a window by the pool and take food out there.

This place is all about relaxing and forgetting your troubles. The location on the beach is great. I got up early to see the sunrise and was rewarded with a beautiful sunrise and also saw deer playing and eating in the dunes.
The room was large, very clean and had everything I needed including free high speed internet. The breakfast buffet was good in a clean breakfast area.
The staff here were all very good from the lobby, cleaners, breakfast staff, barman and the free shuttle driver who took us wherever we wanted to go on the island. If you work here and are reading this, give yourself a pat on the back.

could not be happier! Front desk staff amazing, hotel well taken care of, lovely, secluded location. Nice for a quick getaway or week off. Sister property of Jekyll Island Club Hotel and the standards of excellence carry over.

My wife booked a couple of nights here at this property and I couldn't be happier with her selection. Everything was very succinct as far as the layout of the property. The staff was very kind and helpful. I would like to personally thank Stacey and Tony at the front desk. They made our stay just that much better.

This is our 3rd stay at the JI Hampton. We always stay at Hampton Inn when on vacation because of the reliable quality we have come to expect from Hampton. We have been well pleased with each stay at this Hampton. The staff is friendly and efficient. Clean rooms, hot coffee always, exercise room, nice pool, great walkway to the beach. We love our Jekyll Island vacations!

I was visiting my husband while he was in training, so I chose The Hampton Inn to stay at since it was close and on the beach. It was in a good location, clean, friendly staff, and all around was great. I had no complaints in anyway. The pool was nice, never overcrowded. The beach was nice ( i found lots of sand dollars too!) , and the hotel even had its own little walkway to the beach. The continental breakfast had many choices, and the hotel bar offered food you could grab on the go. The wraps were delicious. The hotel even put out fresh cookies at night! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Jekyll Island isn't much for night life, if you are looking for some fun night life head on over to St. Simon's Island. If you are looking for a relaxing time, this is the spot.
