My family and I stayed at the Days Inn on Jekyll for a long weekend in Sept. 2007. As other reviewers have said, the hotel is dated. In fact, I remember staying in it a few times as a teenager with my own parents, before they renovated it.
We booked a one bedroom, oceanview suite with a pullout sofa in the living room for our daughter. The room was large and clean, with a kitchenette area that was useful. Our view of the ocean from our second floor balcony was beautiful. The free continental breakfast every morning was really good, with lots of options from scrambled eggs to waffles to cereal and toast.
The only "complaint" I had, if you want to call it that, is that I felt a little misled in booking the room. Admittedly, I booked it online without calling the hotel first. But I booked what I thought was a one bedroom suite with a separate living area for our daughter to sleep on the pullout sofa. (As we had brought her with us on the tail end of our honeymoon, you can see why this might be important.) However, what we got was one big room with the bedroom on one end, divided from the living room by the kitchenette/bathroom hallway which opened right into the living room/balcony area. There was no door, in fact no privacy at all, for the bedroom area. So booking the "one bedroom suite" was pointless when we could've paid less for a regular room with two double beds.
Other than that, it's a good hotel for families who want good beach access, as well as two swimming pools for kids to enjoy.
