There weren't any recent reviews so I wanted to give an update. The hotel rooms are clean but somewhat dated. Our room had 2 double beds and the sink was in the main room. A shower/tub and toilet were in a separate room. The room smelled a littler musty but was Ok otherwise. Free continental breakfast is in 2nd floor room overlooking ocean which is a great view to watch the sun come up. The options were unexpectedly large: 2 waffle makers, boxed cereals, fresh fruit, bagels, juiceboxes of OJ and apple, milk in cartons, and of course teas and coffeer. The hostess keeps things well stocked and is very helpful.
Hotel is right on oceanfront and has great beach access. We checked in late so we had a 1st floor room with no view but 2nd floor rooms must have nice views of ocean. Price was reasonable ($70). Hotel was pretty full that night with many people just passing thru like us but we still got a couple of hours on the beautiful beach. Would recommend hotel since there are not many choices these days on the island.

“Wonderful beachfront experience”

The reason to stay at Days Inn and Suites Oceanfront Resort in Jekyll Island is summed up in one word: Beach. If you are looking for a great walking beach with boardwalk accessibility from the hotel grounds, this is the place to stay. The suite was spacious and reasonable at $125 plus tax. To enjoy ocean views from your suite, you must stay on the 2nd floor; we had a nice balcony with table and chairs. The beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet. They also provide a buffet breakfast included in the price. This is an old hotel, so expect that some aspects of the suite will look worn. Our suite was clean, however, and the shower/tub and bathroom were quite adequate. Be careful with booking in Jekyll, some hotels may be beach front but do not have a decent beach for walking or lounging. Days Inn does.

We stayed here for only one night after visiting the local waterpark. We had booked a standard room, but were upgraded to a 2 room suite on the second floor. It was clean and very large. Plenty of storage area if you were staying awhile, a small fridge, stovetop, bar sink, ect.
We especially liked the large balcony on the oceanside of the room.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the dunes do block the view of the beach (sand), but it's still a nice view if you are upstairs. A downstairs room, even the water view that you have from upstairs would be obstructed. (Photos attached.)
The front desk was friendly and helpful in helping us find the new GA Sea Turtle Center.
The breakfast was standard continental fare. fruit, baked goods, cereal and a waffle iron.
There were many families vacationing there and kids playing football and frisbee on the lawn having a great time. (Not too noisy though.)
We liked Zachry's close by (2 blocks) to eat.
It is definately a "beachy" vacation island. If you enjoy nature and biking and walking and relaxing on the beach, Jekyll is a good place to visit. They have a decent waterpark and a few other places to visit. If you want a ton of shopping and "touristy" stuff, you should probably look elsewhere.

“stay here cut short due to other partying guests”

We had booked two oceanfront king rooms on the second floor for three nights. We ended up only staying one night, as our stay there was very inhospitable thanks to the presence of a huge group of friends who apparently thought they were on spring break, despite their varying ages. There were adults and teenagers and younger children, all of whom ran up and down outside the doors at all hours, and who constantly congregated on the breezeway/"balcony" area for loud partying and loud singing, complete with boombox. They even stole the chairs from outside of our two rooms, and we had to insist that they give them back so that we, too, could enjoy sitting on the balcony. One of the women then proceeded to talk loud ignorant trash about us for asking for our chairs back. The nerve of us expecting that we had the same rights as she did, i.e. to actually be able to enjoy the balcony of our hotel room.

The rooms themselves were bare bones and rather threadbare-- the ocean view was obscured by the dunes, but the biggest disappointment was that the balconies aren't actually private -- it's more of a common breezeway. Turns out I guess there are about six rooms at this property that actually do have private balconies.

After one miserable night because of the unrepentant loudness of our fellow guests, the next afternoon when the jerks had once again stole all the balcony chairs and their kids were running around like banshees and the boombox was blaring 80s rock and pop, we called the front desk (againn) and asked to be allowed to check out immediately and get our money back for the final two nights of our planned three night stay. The manager obliged, but never apologized for the inappropriateness of what was going on around us.

Upshot? We really like Jekyll, but absolutely won't go back to this place. Needless to say, it was very disappointing to be subjected to adults behaving badly and to cut our vacation short by two nights.

The room was very clean, especially considering the age of this hotel. The service was very friendly, the continental breakfast was just fine for what we needed. It was on the beach but the actual beach is not what I expected. We are used to VA and NC beaches where you actually want to swim in the ocean. That's not the fault of the hotel though, just the nature of the island. My only real complaint was the cleanliness of the pools. I know its hard to keep a beachfront pool clean BUT...I wouldn't let my son go under water in one of them because there seemed to be a black fungus all over the sides and bottom and the water was cloudy at best. The other pool was much better but still not up to my cleanliness standards. Overall, it was worth the $139/night that we paid and worked great for our base of operations to explore the island. In the future, if it was just my husband and me, I would pay the extra few $ for the Jekyll Island Hotel simply for the ambiance and history. However, for us with my 5-year old it was perfect.
