I stayed here with my family while I attended a conference. We chose this motel because it was beachfront. This motel is very old and needs a major renovation. Our bathroom sink backed up and maintenance couldn't fix so we had to change rooms. (What an incovenience!) We killed numerous roaches on the wall. The smoke detector started beeping so we had to take it down off the wall and take out the battery. There are only two ice machines and vending on the property so you have to walk a mile to get to them. Housekeeping never came to clean our room so we had to reuse our linens.
Please pay the extra money and stay somewhere else! This motel is disgusting.

Just a warning if you do stay here, don't stay in a room near the flag pole. My husband and I were awaken by the wind blowing the metal on the cord against the flag pole. All we heard was TING TING TING TING. I called the front desk at 4:30 am and the man said he would have security check on it. Well about thirty minutes later of TING TING, we packed our stuff and went home.... Also the hot tub faucet was leaking... O I almost forgot during the day we were watching tv and hear BAM BAM BAM....... BAM.... BAM.... My husband looks out the patio door and there was a guy beating on the AC unit that was down below us. BTW we were in 128... The banging stopped and then started again.. OMG... When we were checking in the hotel there was a woman getting a refund for her rooom, not sure what she was mad about but the left to get another hotel......

When I booked this room I knew that it wasn't going to be a upscale hotel but I figured it would be an average beach hotel which was fine because I planned to spend all our time at the beach and pool. But besides the room being completely different than advertised on their website it was also disgusting with bugs crawling on the wall and in 95 degree weather our ac unit did not work. When we contacted the front desk they sent maintenance to our room who then told us our ac was broken and we would need to switch rooms. The front desk seemed annoyed and told us there was no baggage carts or anyone to help us move all of our things to another room. This was only two hours after check-in and after a 6 hr drive and having my 3 year old with us, moving all of our things isn't easy. We spoke to a manager and he was rude in the beginning but in the end offered to take the nights charge and refund it back to me. The next day we were at the pool and the health inspector came and literally closed the pool due to an alarming low level of chlorine! We had already been swimming in this pool for hours and now it was closing because it was dirty! At this point we just wanted to leave and went to the front desk and said we wanted to check- out early and we were then told as well that we would be refunded in full due to all the chaos that had happened since the moment we arrived. Four days later the refund still had not taken place so I called the manager and he was polite and told me that it would be taken care of immediately. Two days later there was still no refund and in fact they charged my card again! I called and spoke to the same manager that I had been dealing with for a week now and was told that he didn't charge us again (even though my bank showed the charge) and now he said we would only be refunded for one night. He then went on to tell me he didn't know about anything we had discussed before and he then hung up on me. He clearly lied over and over to get me off his back.

Needless to say this is not a good place to stay. I'm sure this place could have potential but it is obvious that the staff and management do NOT care about their guests or this hotel. It is poorly ran and needs to be cleaned badly! Please no matter what, do not stay here and get ripped off like I have! After reading the other reviews and knowing my own situation with this place I don't see how it stays in business, it's a complete nightmare. Jekeyll seemed like a very nice place but if you choose to visit please stay somewhere else!

This hotel is dingy, dirty and disinterested in keeping up this property. The housekeeping staff does not do their job and maintenance is a ting of the past. Carpeting is wet and filthy, the shower head, which sits in a hole in the wall is black with mold. We will never return. Our dog came home with conjunctivitis from staying in this room.

Hotel was a great location, we watched the sunset right at the pool and walked on the beach during the day. Room was nice, a little dated but from what the staff told me they just got new management and are getting ready to update the hotel in the next few months. Try the corn fritters in restaurant, they're a little addicting. Jekyll island on the whole was beautiful, there was something for the kids and for the adults to take advantage of. Don't take the kids on the segway tour, it's more enjoyable for adults.
