This older property, one that has been reasonably well maintained and upgraded, seems to stretch for miles along a wondrous beach. My room, $95+ resort and pet fees, was pretty standard, showing signs of wear and tear. The room also had two connecting doors which I loathe and which leaked the sounds of my neighbours.

I used a facecloth to wash some of the surfaces (remote, telephone, table lamps) and the white square was not a pretty site when I was done. Plus, I discovered a little piece of poop in the toilet. Not top-notch housekeeping by any means. The duty manager (Nikki) resolved the situation to my satisfaction and sent someone to scrub the bowl.

The restaurant's food was better than expected (shrimp both deep-fried and broiled quite good, chowder very good, crab cakes much better than average) but their house Merlot was more like grape juice and the gin in the martinis tasted seriously watered down. Total for three including tax and a good tip (although the pleasant server forgot a few basics like cutlery) was $150.

But it's all on fabulous Jekyll Island and fairly reasonably priced... and they accept dogs.

We loved our stay at Oceanside Inn & Suites. It is right on the beach and VERY dog friendly. It's not the nicest hotel but I didn't expect it to be because I did my research before booking. It is dated but is very clean and the staff was very nice. I would stay again and I would recommend. They only thing you need to keep in mind is that it is dated so keep your expectations realistic. If you like very nice hotels, don't stay here. If you like average hotels but that have a GREAT view and peacefulness this is your place.

My wife and I stayed at Oceanside over the Thanksgiving weekend 2012. We used an upgrade to stay in a little nicer suite ( large room on the left side of the hotel next to the beach with hottub) than we usually do. The beach was nice, deserted and clean. The little restaurant was closed by he time we got ther, so we repeated Thanksgiving dinner over on the Pier. Our room was ok and quiet. Another reviewer here criticized the lack of lights outside the room. I LOVE that factor, Jekyll is one of the safest places I know of, I love to sit outside, quietly, enjoy the sun going down and the stars coming out, wihtout feeling Im on display, everyone looking. Knowing that the lights are turned out to keep the sea turtles on track is an added benefit. The staff gave us a nice cheese basket when we told them we stayed there for our 26th anniversary,,,,we originally decided to plot our life's plans together at this hotel,,,back in 1985.
Used to stay at this hotel when I was a kid, back in the early 1960s, still love to stay here. The pool is pleasant (met a brewer from Connecticutt, learned a little about beer). Meals at the little restaurant were pleasant and not expensive. Will make plans to come back,,rent two rooms side by side, and bring kids in '13.

I stayed here on a one night stay on my way to Florida. I chose Oceanside Inn & Suites while searching for lodging. The room we were given was outdated, dirty, and in poorly maintained condition. Doors were old and broken, but locks worked. The room needs to be reconditioned completely.
In summary I was disappointed in the room even though the location is nice beside the ocean. I would not recommend it to a friend.
The Restaurant attached was OK - fair meal for a fair price.
