“Convenient and Friendly, but Average Food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

When we booked a 5-night package at the adjacent Oceanside Inn and Suites, we received 5 days' breakfast tickets for the SandBar and Grill.

On the positive side, you can't beat the convenience of having your breakfast prepared and served just a few minutes' walk from your oceanfront room. Other positives were the ample portions and friendly service.

On the down side, the menu had some rather strange pairings. For example, pancakes or waffles came with a side of hashbrowns. It'd seem more logical to pair pancakes/waffles with eggs and/or bacon. Substituting for the hashbrowns incurred an extra charge (depending on your server).

Also, the presentation was on the routine side. There just wasn't anything particularly appetizing or memorable about the appearance of any the breakfasts - and we did sample several.

Since our room had a kitchen, we'd have been just as happy to whip up our own quick breakfast most mornings. The SandBar and Grill would be an OK option for your first morning (before you shop) and for your departure morning, but keep expectations in check.

“Unfortunately only average - after all this positiv feedback”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

After having read all the good reviews here we were surprised with only average food and average atmosphere at a somewhat higher price than average. :-(

We might have been there in the wrong day, the wrong daytime and chosen the wrong food.
But we likely won't give it a second try given the alternatives.

We've been here for a quick lunch, having a baked potato soup and a seafood chowder.
The bowls came as relatively small cups, the taste of both soups was ok but nothing special (chowder somewhat better than the potato soup), the crackers as side even came with an "old" taste.

The atmosphere nothing special, the waiter friendly and attentive, the prices higher than e.g. in the (tastier) Driftwood nearby.
