“Out dated but close to town.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

We stayed here with the kids for the weekend. Our 2 bedroom was at the very top of the hill. The one lane road is very dangerous, especially around the blind corners. The room was clean but very outdated. Stayed on the 2nd floor, could hear the floor creak from people in the room above walking around all thru the night to go to the bath room. (You can hear the toilet flush too). Pool and water slide were ok, but run down. The cess-pool they call a pond, has paddle boats you can use. But I would not suggest going anywhere near it. No telling what you might catch. This place is definitely not worth the $50 "resort fee" they charge. Will also inform RCI.

Now i'm going back this year! I have stayed in the unit at the bottom of the hill both times. Me and the whole family love this unit with three bedrooms and two bathrooms! I don't know what the units at the top of the hill look like but I would recommend the one at the bottom! Now the property itself is a little dated and could use some renovations but not too bad! The only big problem I have with the resort is that they need to add WiFi in the units instead of it being in the club house and office! The water slides are nice when they are open and the pool table and pool give you something to do at the resort. However, the town is the real reason to travel here! The town is just a short walk from the resort and you get to pass by some horses and across the river! There is also a go kart place down the road that I went to both times! Awesome looking buildings with a German feel to them! Stop by the place with the bears and visit one or all of the miniature golf places they have here! The only thing I would say this place is lacking is places to eat!

Room Tip: Choose the unit at the bottom of the hill and you will love it!

Stayed in this location for several days. Apparently this unit had not been renovated recently, as the TV was old, bedding was tired and worn out, exterior woodwork shows signs of neglect, furniture is "Motel 6" quality - hardly what you would expect to find in a "resort".
Biggest irritation was that there was no Internet access in the units. This is inexcusable for someplace that calls itself a resort. Even the cheapest motels have either wireless or wired Internet access.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room.

When we arrived at Alpine Crest we discovered we were way up at the top of the mountain. We felt like we were climbing our way to heaven. Once inside it was warm, cozy and rustic. We loved it. The unit was neat and clean and we had everything we needed for our vacation. Our unit had two bedrooms, living room, two bathrooms, and a fully equipt kitchen. Our favorite hangout in town was Nacoochee Village Tavern and Pizzeria. If you like pizza and beer you will be addicted to this place. Another restaurant we liked a lot was Hofer's of Helen. It was also a fantastic bakery. We loved the German architecture in the town. This is a great place to vacation.

We visit Helen often, but this was our first stay at this property. Our unit had been renovated very nicely. Two bedroom, spacious bath between the rooms. Full size kitchen. The drive to the "cabin" was squirrely. Would be very careful after visiting the festhall then driving to the room. The play ground area needed some work. Would stay there again.

We arrived after a 7 hour drive ...sent to a bottom unit that was terrible ! ..walked through mud..everything was molded and mildewed...smelly and unkept. Playground was under water, tennis courts full of weeds and cracks..pool and recreation area falling in,musty and dirty, water slides not working...I could go on and on...needless to say we did not stay.Had to drive another 7 hours to start our vacation...NEVER again

This was our first time to the Helen, GA area. Our goal for the week was to relax and not have a schedule. The room we stayed in wasn't one that had been updated, but it had everything we needed. We could hear our neighbors some, but it wasn't a nuisance. As a previous reviewer stated, it's not a 4-star resort, but it was clean and the staff was accommodating and friendly.

The resort is very close to town and we walked several times to nearby attractions. Be aware that several of the restaurants are only open for Breakfast and Lunch, so prepare accordingly. Alpine Crest units do have full kitchens, so staying in for meals isn't ever an issue.

Room Tip: Ask for an updated room upon reserving!
