“No better service anywhere...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

Over the past decade or so we've had the opportunity to stay at some of the nicest hotels in the world in the US, Europe and Asia. While some of those hotels might be more grand or elegant, we have not enjoyed our stay at any of those places as much as we did at the Ritz at Reynolds Plantation.

The main reason - the staff. Every single person at the hotel - from check-in to luggage assistance to housekeeping to the concierge to event staff - made it his/her mission to make our stay spectacular. And they succeeded. The housekeeper noticed my daughter's blanket had gotten wet so she had it dry cleaned at no charge. The concierge greeted us by name throughout our stay and took it upon herself to get to know our kids. The outdoor staff was ready to assist us with everything from replacing lost sunglasses (at no charge, by the way!) to setting up chairs to making sure we were hydrating during the heat wave.

In general, we have never had a more pleasant stay anywhere. We could have driven another four hours to the beach...but our family vacation wouldn't have been any better. This property is a gem that is all too often forgotten by families in Atlanta. Thanks to the staff, we'll never forget this place...especially when it's time to plan our next trip.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms often have patios that open right out into the main activity areas, including the...

The Ritz at Reynolds is perhaps one of the best lake-front properties you'll ever find in the South. Lake Oconee is stunning in the summer heat, and the Ritz has all of the necessary amenities. Rooms facing the inside of the hotel property are best (even numbered rooms) and be sure to sit at the bar lake-side (Gabby's - terrible name) for dinner. Order the salmon or scallops with a Caeser salad....
For golf, play the Great Waters Course and the Oconee Course, with the National being a distant third choice.
The gym and spa are not an extra charge like so many other 5-star hotels are prone to do, and the LingerLonger Steakhouse is phenominal. And fairly expensive ($150 a head with wine).
The bartenders in the billiards bar area were incredibly hospitable and friendly. Great spot for a night-cap.

Room Tip: Even numbered rooms face the lake, which is a fantastic view, but also are subject to any nightly ri...

What a beautiful resort! We checked into the Reynolds Plantation on a Sunday and were treated to a live band on the lawn and fireworks over the lake (Sunday nights in summer). This was an added bonus to a lovely stay. Gaby's restaurant by the lake is very good, but you cannot see or hear the band from there. They did have tables on the Terrace at The Georgia Bistro, and you would have a view of the band from there.
We had dinner, listened to the band and watched the fireworks. Then toasted smores on the fire for dessert. Perfect!
Another lovely touch was that when we left some items behind in our room, they sent them on to us by Fedex. Thank you, Ritx Carlton!

Room Tip: Lake view is a must!

Stayed at this resort for the Lake Oconee Triathlon. This place has beautiful grounds, friendly staff, and great food. After the tri we lounged around the pool all afternoon and really enjoyed relaxing and having the staff take care of us! I didn't know about this place before but seeing as its only 2 hour from home I would definitely like to return for another relaxing getaway.

We stayed for night on the way to the airport in Atlanta from SC. Only 1 hr 15 min from Atlanta airport. Spent most of time at pool. Very nice facility on lake oconee. We swam and ate by pool. They had smores for kids and a concert by the lake which was fun. Fireworks were cool too. I think they only do concerts and fireworks on Sundays though.

I played golf at Great Waters, and it was not worth what they charged. 260.00 for a round of golf is a ripoff. Back 9 had good lake views, but play was way too slow.

I will definately be back to stay at the Ritz!

This property is beautiful. The lawn running from the hotel to the lake is expansive, with hammocks and Adirondack chairs scattered throughout. As with any Ritz, the food was good but expensive. The beach is small but well groomed. The pool area is very nice and we loved the lake view while swimming.

This property appeared to be very kid friendly, although we did not have ours with us so cannot say from explicit experience. There is a playground, basketball court, kayaks, canoes, etc all available on site.

If you end up in a room in the X70s, be prepared for a long walk. We were in room 47X and had to walk to the elevator or lobby each time to get access to the exterior. Good exercise but slightly annoying. Also, if you enjoy going to bed relatively early while on vacation (or have kids who go to bed early), I would avoid this end of the hotel. As you approach the X70s, you get closer and closer to Gaby's. We were awoken one night at 11:30pm by loud music coming from the restaurant.

The spa and fitness facilities are great. The staff were very attentive and helpful. I highly recommend taking advantage of this area while there.

Overall, this was a great visit and we hope to get back sometime soon.
