“Lovely gardens, and history too”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

I'm from the MacDonald clan, so a visit was a must. We all learnt a lot from the museum - but perhaps more interesting for those with some clan involvement than without? The gardens were lovely, and we particularly enjoyed the Armadale Activities (archery etc) - a separate business within the grounds so reviewed elsewhere.
The cafe at the Clan Donald Centre was excellent - like other reviewers, we arrived alongside coach parties (3 of them) but still got very friendly service and excellent food. We can thoroughly recommend the ice-creams if you have room for them.

“Evening meal in the restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

3 of us had a very delicious meal in the restaurant of the Clan Donald centre and it was very reasonably priced, in comparison with other Skye establishments. We also experienced very friendly and efficient service, so we're happy to recommend it.
I believe it does not open late in the evening though so check for opening times.

“Enjoyed the restaraunt..and the walk in grounds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Didn't bother with museum just took dogs for a walk around the estate -unfortunately we parked lochside so had a bit of a trek in rain at end of walk.
Decided to head for café where we all had a "cream tea" and coffee. Really it was only scone with jam and cream but staff were very friendly as they served you. And good value for money in what is quite an expensive area.

“Lovely location and beautiful gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013 via mobile

While experience far better than I thought. Restaurant concept needs brushing up. In the morning when people are having coffee there needs to be a faster way of serving up coffee. Felt the restaurant and staff let everything down we walked out. The librarian was lovely as were staff in the shop

“Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

My family and i visited this beautiful location of skye and found it most delightful. We spent a day at the clan donald walking in the lovely well kept gardens and learning about the different clans. We also had very tasty food considering there were alot of bus party's in the restaurant which all the staff were consintrated in apart from one very young girl. She placed our order, got our drinks very quickly and did this with a smile on her face. We also noticed that the chef was shouting at her but yet still had a smile on her face. We all thought that this was rather un kind as she was trying her hardest. Apart from this the clan donald centre was well worth the visit and the family and i are actually staying at the apartments around the october break.
