“Been There Many Times But This May Be The Last”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

02/18/12 Arrived at 1200. It took ten minutes before the waitress took our order (a lot longer than usual). Two other tables sat minutes after us. Both tables got their food before us. One of the other tables finished and left. Still no food. The waitress said she was checking....
She returned later to ask what we had ordered. She said there was food sitting ready to go out but they did not know where it went. Come on....The table that had already eaten ordered the same thing that I did!
We left at 1 pm without being served.
WORSE SERVICE EVER. Table F in the back dining room.

“Best meat and three around!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2011

If you are craving good old fashioned southern cooking, you have to visit Dougs Place. Their revolving menu changes seasonally and daily, so call their menu line to see what is on the menu for that day - expect to get meats like 1/4 chicken, fried catfish, & fried livers. Their veggie selection has items like sliced tomatos, mac & cheese, collards, squash casserole, fried green tomatos, grits casserole, & corn. Cobbler & cakes for dessert, and there is also a sandwich menu as well.

This place is worth a drive - the service is consistent, food is delicious, and atmosphere is charming.

“God I love Doug's”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2009

Ok, first thing to know, they cook the food old style. I wouldn't say that it's greasy, but it's not health food either! The restaurant is in an old general store, and many of the original things from the store are still there (including the ladder to get things from the top shelves). The waitresses are all very nice, and exude Southern charm. It can get busy at times, but the service is fast and the food is good. Also, when the train goes through, you'll feel it! :D
