“McKendrick's has competition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

The four of us are McKendrick's regulars, so we aren't easily swayed. We were very happy with the food quality, wine service, and attention. Granted, it was a not-too-busy Wednesday. Fairly quiet for a top notch steakhouse, and quite beautiful. The mark of a great steakhouse is consistency, however, so the final grade for this location won't be available for a while. In the meantime, we give it an "A".

“Go somewhere else please”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

This was our first visit and probably our last. Having enjoyed other Capital Grilles in other locations we couldn't have been more disappointed in this one. The restaurant was busy with a lot of the after work conference crowd when we went but that 's not unusual for restaurants in this area. There were some early warnings signs when our cocktails took ages. We ordered calamari and carpaccio to start. The calamari was overcooked the carpaccio just OK. Then the waiting started. First we sat with dirty plates and uneaten food and then we waited and waited and waited for our entrees. No one asked if we would like some wine or gave us an update on when our food would arrive. All around us tables of business people sat amongst the debris of their dinner with tables not cleared. Our waiter put in an appearance and went "uh oh your food should have been here by now" and then went absent again.. We were offered water and the guy who offered it spoke to our waiter and then finally our food arrived. Both the Delmonico steak and the filet were cold as were the sides. We voiced our displeasure to the General Manager who with a complete misunderstanding of food offered to take our steaks back and "warm them up". We declined and decided we would rather leave than wait for them re cook our meal as we had been there quite long enough. We offered to pay for what we had had. They didn't charge us but we were expecting great steaks and good service which we had experienced in the Jacksonville area so it was a disappointing evening. If you are in this area and want to go to a good steak house please go to McKendricks!

“Capital Grille for a Saturday Night?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

We had reservations at 8:00 for a party of 7 for some family in town. We picked Capital Grille because we wanted a great meal but did not want to drive to Buckhead. My wife and I arrived at 7:15 and upon arriving, passed a couple in the valet who were leaving with two kids in tow and casually dressed.

Upon entering we were greeted and sat at the bar in a upscale environment, yet laid back. The average dress was jeans with collard shirts. As time passed our family arrived and we proceeded to have a round of drinks. The bartenders were busy, yet we were acknowledged and after some small wait were served, despite a variety of drink orders. We only encountered a little sass when one of the party ordered something they had to get in the back room, the bartender was a little rude about it, but this seems common when they have to leave their stations in my experience.

Once seated, immediately upon request, we had excellent service. The food was great, server was nice and quick. We were offered a bottle of Silver Oak at a great price due a special being offered, we took it (some lunch burger special that upped the Silver Oak being purchased) In any case is was better than what we ordered originally at a lower price. All in all I can say the place is much more enjoyable than the Buckhead location, with less business types, more family and the same food.

I thought it was better than many local steakhouses in Buckhead like Bones, Capital, Chops because it was closer and more local. I would go back. PS, none of the Capital Grille's are cheap, our bill was $700 for 7 people.

“Nice Replacement for Wildfire at Perimeter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

I had a business luncheon at the newly opened Capital Grille near Perimeter Mall this week and had a mainly good experience. The menu has a lot of good alternative options from appetizers to main courses. We were both very pleased with our meals (Salmon and the Chopped Salad) and the service was pretty good with two exceptions. My associate had finished his meal, but it was very clear I was still eating my lunch, but the waitress still cleared my bread plate, the bread basket, and my dining partner's lunch & bread plates. (If I didn't have a mouth full of salad I would have said something.) To me the message was "You've been here long enough; time to go." It was not like there were no empty tables or people were waiting to be seated. The waitress also spent way too much time after delivering the bill chatting about her opinions of the iPhone vs. the Android and the various cell phone providers. I will definitely go back, but hope to not get that particular waitress. (I was torn between giving this restaurant a 3 or a 4. I'd give the menu a 5 and the service a 3, so I settled on 4.)
