1. They gave a key to my friend who was staying with me without checking with me to see if this person was indeed who I was expecting. I hadn't given them a name, nor did they ask her to see any identification. She walked in on my while I was asleep.
2. I had another friend come into town unexpectedly and I asked for a rollaway and was denied. They advertise rollaways but would not let me have one.
3. I asked for more towels. Denied. My friend had to use my towels after I used them!
4. I had a second room for the 2nd and 3rd nights of my stay for two more friends. I got the room number and had that room linked to my cc on the morning of the 2nd day. I consider that to be checking in as I linked it to my card. They sold the room to someone else and walked my friends to the Emory Conference Center (much nicer digs) 30 minutes away in rush hour traffic. Told them to come back the next day for their room as they had plenty. When they arrived back the next day, they were told tough and too bad---no rooms. They demanded a voucher for the Emory CC and got their same room back. Ruined our "reunion" as we hardly saw them--they were commuting in their car.
5. Hotel charges for parking. Couldn't park in garage because of buses blocking the entrance. Had to park on street and get up early to start feeding the meter. Told there would be no charge. HA!
6. Saw teenager girls in the elevator who were given keys to a room and when they walked into said room it was occupied by teenage boys. No rooms left at the inn. They were with a group so I can only assume the male chaperone spent the night in the lobby.
7. Upon checking out I asked for a statement. Told that they just couldn't do that as it was PREPAID. Asked to verify that my card wasn't charged for the room I didn't get and that the teenage boys in that room weren't running up charges on my credit card. Assured that was not the case. When I got home I found that my credit card was charged a different amount than was PREPAID, and that I was charged for the room I didn't get and that they tried to make my friends pay for.
8. Broken tile in elevator that I tripped on twice. I almost broke my neck the second time. Glad it wasn't a little old lady.
9. After walking my friends, but I didn't know it yet, I knocked on the door of the room that I'd already linked to my card and found it occupied by teenage boys. When I called the front desk to inquire as to which room they'd put my friends in I was told that I didn't have a second room. WRONG. It took a trip to the desk and to chew on the night manager for a while to find out what had happened.
10. I could go on, but...

I booked two nights at this property, ignoring the recent string of bad reviews on this site because the location was very convenient for the purpose of my trip. The room was large and clean with fairly nice furnishings for a Holiday Inn. However, the hotel was bursting with groups of 12-14 yr old cheerleaders with no apparent chaperones. They were put in rooms up and down the hall from ours, and acted horribly, screaming, slamming doors, shouting at one another until close to 2AM on both nights of my stay. Upon complaining, the hotel security warned them, but made no effort to find the chaperone. The girls couldn't have cared less and didn't change their behavior a bit when I spoke with them either. My wife and I made three visits to the front desk to complain, none with satisfactory results. In addition, for a good portion of my stay, one of the elevators was broken, meaning that you had to wait in line for several minutes to use the one functional elevator to reach your room. The lobby was often chaos, with cheerleaders running amuck, and conference goers drinking cases of cheap beer on the couches at all hours of the night. I was never offered a refund, but upon demanding one, paid for only one of the nights. Not all of what I describe is necessary the management's fault and obviously could differ from night to night. BUT, if you're looking for a quiet, well-managed hotel in Decatur, and you are planning to sleep during the night, this isn't for you.

I was supposed to stay here for a business trip for an entire week but checked out on the 2nd night after spending hours dealing with internet connection issues and changing rooms twice. Even in places where I could get a connection, it came in and out. The staff at the frontdesk did their best to deal with this issue but didn't have anything they could really do because the service is just terrible. The breakfast was fine and the room was clean, but I couldn't recommend this place for a business traveler who needs an internet connection to work.

I got this hotel through Priceline, otherwise I would not have stayed here. I had heard from people it was not very good. Well most the reviews have touched on my complaints. The AC was hardly working - staying on 5th floor. The wireless connection worked outside my room and lobby but hit or miss in room. Staff was fantastic and tried to accomodate both these problems. Offered to compensate but realized I had already paid....so probably just log this up as one hotel I'll never stay at again. Location great - walkable to all my favorite places in Decatur. Have to say I would not recommend.
