I stayed here for four nights on business in November 2004. I selected this hotel because a friend had stayed here two years earlier when I lived in Atlanta. When I arrived, I immediately noticed that what once seemed nice and new now seemed shabby around the edges.
The first room that I was given (streetside) was chilly and I am sensitive to cold. I tried to activate my in-room climate control system, but nothing happened. I called the front desk clerk and asked to change rooms, but she insisted on sending the maintenance man to check the system. The maintenance guy got cold air to flow into my room and told me to wait a little while for it to warm up. Forty minutes latter, there was still cold air blowing into my room. I called the front desk and asked again to change rooms. The desk clerk said that she would have to check with the maintenance guy again and that she would call me back. Twenty minutes later (close to 11PM) after literally waiting by the phone, I marched down to the front desk and firmly requested an immediate room change as I needed to get to bed. The clerk was curt to me me and never apologized.
I was moved to a room on the atrium side of the hotel. The climate control didn't work in that room either, but the room was warmer by virtue of its location. Unfortunately, the room was only half made up. While the bed was made, the pillow were all disheveled and there were long hairs on them. While the bath towels looked fine, the hand towels were used. Since I still had the key for my first room, I switched pillows and towels between rooms since I knew it would be a while to get any help if I called the desk.
On my last night, there was a ridiculously loud DJ-ed holiday party in the atrium area. The hotel has private event facilities in a separate wing, so in my opinion, because half the rooms face the atrium, parties should be confined to the event area out of respect for guests.
