“Fun and different”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

We met friends here for lunch. It is nice, clean, and has good menu items. We ordered alot of food to share. I ordered the Lime Ricky to drink. It was good, and I would order it again. I would've liked some of the calories back - the masala fries and the SPDP were not very good. The fries were a bit boring. I kept looking for something in the SPDP. It seemed like an empty taco supreme and they got soggy. The Sloppy Jai and Samosa Chaat were incredible! Highly recommend those! If you order the Samosa, go ahead and get the Samosa Chaat because the stew below is the best part. The Kale Pakoras were really good and the sauce was really tasty. The chicken burgers were good, too. I will definitely go again and often, especially now that I know what to order. Definitely study the menu before you go! Must try!!

“Great addition to Decatur restaurant scene”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

We experienced Chai Pani a few years ago in Ashville and really enjoyed it. So we were very much looking forward to try them in Decatur when we noticed the restaurant. Since then we have visited the restaurant a few times to dine-in or take-out and on every occasion we were pleased with the quality of the food and service. This is a great addition to Decatur

“Nice place in Decatur.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

Chai Pani, which is an idiom for "bribe", is a welcome new spot in the former Watershed space on Ponce. It sells itself as Mumbai street food, but it's honestly a bit fancier than that. Two of us shard three items off the menu enjoyed them all. It gets super-packed on the weekend, after 630pm so go early or on a weeknight.

“Good but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Fundamentally adequate Indian food, the chapati was thick and a little tough but the butter chicken was delicious and spicy. A fish curry was also quite good, but nothing special. Large, open floor plan made for a very noisy atmosphere.

“Wanted to love it but a little kitschy...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Very nice guy doing orders but very laborious and time consuming.
Stuff arrives at table on stainless steel plates with very nice substantial silverware.
Staff doesn't clear plates (unless asked)
Food all kind of tastes similar, very very tiny spots of of raita and chutney and quite pricey
Stale air , needs some circulation but attractive decor.
Just didn't quite hit the mark--staff definitely not customer oriented and not inexpensive. I'd rather just go to a full blown restaurant I think.
