Last weekend 6 of us had dinner at IP. We had 6pm reservations but we were all late for various reasons. This wasn't a problem we were still promptly seated as soon as 3 of the 6 arrived. The restaurant was very crowded for 6pm. It was loud and very noisy but not a problem for us. At first when I entered the restaurant waiting for my party I noticed a smell. It smelled like a combination of old liquor and puke. Not a wonderful smell to greet you when you enter a nice place. Once seated I really didn't pay much attention to this again. Someone else in my party also commented on the smell.
We decided to do tapas since there were 6 of us so that we could taste most of the menu. The guys opted for straight Bourbon and Whiskey. I had a Pisco Sour - trying something new. I am a margarita/red wine girl. The drink was pretty good but served in a martini glass it was small and gone really quickly. I switched to wine. I am not sure what I had but it was recommended by the waiter. I like heavy reds and what I got was really good but it was $14/glass.
We had started with the bacon wrapped dates and salads. The dates were tasty but nothing special. I was a bit disappointed since they got rave reviews. We tried 2 salads. They were a good vegetable. We tried the octopus, meat balls, pork belly, lamb ribs,IBÉRICO TASTING, egg plant fries,“FOIENCH” TOAST, scallops, veal raviolis, cheese tasting plate and dessert.
octopus, pork belly, eggplant fries and scallops didn't stand out. Cheese plate portions were seriously small for the price. The Iberico tasting was good but again I think very over priced.
Ravioli - good
Foiench Toast - VERY good
Meatballs - VERY VERY good
Surprisingly for me because I don't eat lamb but decided to taste these
Lamb Ribs - DA BOMB!!! no really the ladies were fighting over these they were divine. I am not a lamb person because of the gamey taste but these I'd order again and again.
Desserts were good - nothing spectacular.
Overall I liked atmosphere but I felt like the food was way overpriced. $540 for 6 people who averaged 1.5 drinks per person seemed a lot. Maybe dinner is the better way to go here. Service was very good our waiter was very attentive. Fun atmosphere.
