“Awesome venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

This place is just fantastic!! For $5 you can see beautiful waterfalls and have an enjoyable experience for most of the day. We got there later in the day and didn't feel like taking the hike - it was going to take too long - so we drove to the parking lot that enabled us to make a 1/4 mile walk to the falls. Even that was definitely worth the entry fee. The falls are beautiful and the walk easy. If you have the time you can spend most of the day exploring and enjoying the beauty of this park.

“AMAZING GRACE!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

God's amazing work!!! The waterfalls are breath taking!!! They have three drive up paths to the falls or u can take the stairs. We have 5 children raging from 17yr--2yr. We opted to drive & were very happy we didn't attempt the stairs with our crew. We started @ the top and the went to the middle and hit the bottom last. The store lots fun and there were liver animals to look at. Reptiles to Horned Owls they had some pretty neat critters. Have fun we did!

“Poor food quality Under new management”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

View from Amicalola State Park restaurant are awesome! However the new food service contractor's food quality is poor. Buffet starts off with a good salad bar: everything is ice cold and fresh . But that's as far as it goes. The chicken cacciatore had good seasoning but had the bones in and one did not discover that until your fork or mouth ran into the bones. The beef ribs were cold and dry. The beef porterhouse, I think that's what they called it, was tough, tough, and dry. The pasta lacked any flavor. Finally, the once bountiful dessert bar has been skinny down to a few selections that we're good.
Bottom line, don't waste your money on the buffet. Order something from the menu and enjoy the awesome view of the mountains and valleys and sunset.

“A consistently good stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

I have been visiting this park for 20 years and it has never disappointed. It is a good visit in any season. I am thankful that this is one spot from my childhood that remains well kept and has not fallen into disrepair like many such sites. It is a great spot to be reminded of God's creation and of Southern hospitality, as everyone you pass will undoubtedly say hello and strike up a little conversation with you.

They have added a new ramp that goes from the parking lot directly to the falls (the lower deck in the middle of the falls) without steps, which seems to be handicap accessible. That's a good improvement. However, I am used to huffing and puffing to get to the top so I didn't feel like I earned the beauty awaiting me. To make up for this I chose to take the 425 "strenuous" steps to the top of the fall, which provided a view of the sprawling green mountains and a nice picnic area for lunch.

The visitor's center is helpful and I was surprised the restrooms were clean and well maintained because as a rule this is usually not true of most parks. Coffee and souvenirs were available in the visitor's center. There are nature trails, and cabins, and plenty of other ways to spend the day (or a few days) at this park. I have to say I had $500 worth of fun for $5.
