“there hard work is making them great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

They took over another business "Cafe off the Square" that was failing a couple of years ago. They renovated great and are working hard to become a primary foodery in Dahlonega. The food is GREAT!! and you can order off the menu as well. A Buffet is provided on Sundays that was (last time I checked) still all-you-can-eat). Service can be hit, or miss with a turnover pretty steady until they find their permanent staffing, but I was very impressed with their efforts and again, the food is great!!

“Great food -- great service -- great folks!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

My group sponsored an annual breakfast/brunch meeting at Don Pollo, and it was by far the best such event we have arranged in Dahlonega. The food was plentiful, tasty, and varied; the service was first-rate; and the atmosphere was very conducive to our event. Don Pollo Southern Cooking really tries harder -- and succeeds! My family and I plan on returning there often!

“Great Food - Give It a Try!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Don Pollo's has great breakfast, lunch and dinner!

For lunch/dinner, I always get the 1/2 rotisserie chicken and it comes with 2 sides and bread, and it's like $9.50 - that's a great deal!

Miguel is the owner and always very welcoming and friendly - stop by any time of day for some good, home-cooked food.

“Excellent Service Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

Don Pollo is a very interesting place. They serve Mexican and Southern food. They triangulated themselves between two established restaurants, which one happens to serve the best brisket in the area and the other very fine Mexican food. A very risky move. I wish them all the luck in the world. Our server was named Roderick. Roderick was an outstanding waiter and reminded me of the quality you would expect from maybe the Sundial restaurant on top of the Westin in Atlanta. He was extremely gracious. The menu was one of the most unique I have seen that mixed Southern food with Mexican food and had many original dishes. I would recommend this place for the food and the service and would highly suggest trying this restaurant at least once.

“Ultimate breakfast burrito was superb!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013 via mobile

Went to don pollo because it was the only restaurant I could find serving breakfast at 9:30 on a weekday. Was concerned there weren't many other diners, and yes it is big and a little dark with a gigantic menacing fake rooster to walk by. The waiter was quick to bring my coffee and take my order. The ultimate breakfast burrito was loaded with meat, peppers, cheese, and onions and came with crispy perfect hashbroown. The bill was under 10 and I didn't get hungry again until dinner time.
