Staying at Cedar House Inn & Yurts is a little slice of heaven. It has become a regular vacation location for my husband and me. Located in the wine country of North Georgia the tasting opportunities are plentiful. Many art galleries, antique stores and quaint shops surround Dahlonega. The Hillside yurt offers a wonderful view with treed privacy and all the comforts of home. No tv or phone in the yurt (hooray) but a comfy queen size bed, mini fridge, microwave, A/C (or heater) and chairs to relax in. Games and magazines are available in room as well as a catalog of local sights and eateries. Mary Beth's breakfasts are worth the trip alone!! Delicious, plentiful and always with a touch of "green". This eco-friendly place is a true treasure in the North Georgia mountains and you should waste no time in securing a reservation. Fred and Mary Beth are the most gracious of hosts creating a warm, homey and comfortable visit for all. Try a yurt-you'll like it!!!!!

My husband and I made our first trip to this B&B as a week-end getaway. Fred and Mary Beth, the owners and hosts, are friendly and more than willing to provide suggestions on things to do and see while in the area. We stayed in the Chickadee Room, which was furnished with a comfortable, queen-sized bed, sitting area, private bath and a small refrigerator. We also had a private outdoor patio, which was nice for reading and relaxing. Unfortunately, we didn't have the opportunity to go inside the yurts, as they were occupied. The breakfast was healthy and delicious, and if the weather is nice, you have the choice of eating in the dining room or on the outdoor patio. The hosts are happy to chat with guests in the evenings, and will offer you a glass of wine. If you prefer privacy, that wish is respected. As a fellow gardener, I enjoyed strolling the grounds. Mary Beth joined me on my walk, and we had a nice time "talking plants". I hope to return in the future.

The Wolf Mountain Winery is nearby, with tastings and lovely views. We had two meals at the Crimson Moon, in downtown Dahlonega. The food was consistently good, but the service wasn't particularly attentive at the second meal. Note - if the Crimson Moon is having live music, the performance is held in the dining area. The noise level isn't excessive, but could be problematic if you don't enjoy the performer or had planned to engage in conversation over dinner. We kayaked the Chestatee River, renting gear from Appalachain Outfitters.

The yurts and actually the whole B&B is build in an eco-friendly way. Mindful people. The yurts are very nicely decorated and comfortable. Surrounded by trees. You can see the mountains on the horizon from some spots on the property. The breakfast was delicous ! Blueberry french toast, fruit salad just to name a few things on the plate. It was a very special experience. 2 days felt like a week. Great outdoor places to explore in the area. Ask the owners ! They know the good spots and are happy to share them.

We can only echo what the others have written about this exceptional property. Our ignorance of Georgia geography was so complete that we didn't realize that there were mountains there .... but Dahlonega is in the heart of some lovely country. For those thinking of a long weekend or weekday getaway, this would be the perfect spot. Ask the innkeepers for recommendations about places to visit and eat; they know the area well, and we were more than pleased with their suggestions. And make sure you spend some time chatting with Fred, Mary Beth and the other guests. The conversation made our trip even better.

We had the pleasure of staying in the Mountain Laurel Yurt while the Mountain Laurels were in full bloom. We really enjoyed the wonderful breakfasts and conversations with our Hosts, the Tanners. The accomodations were wonderfully comfortable and relaxing. We had a peaceful and renewing two nights. We especially appreciate the Tanners' respect for the environment . We have found a private paradise less than an hour away from our daily hectic routines and hope to return again and again.
