“A learning experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

What I liked about this mine is that they focused on education. First, they take you on a tour of the old mine, which is excellent. Then, they teach everyone how to pan for gold, and I felt I actually learned how to do this. Afterwards, everyone can sift for gems. Now the gem buckets are seeded from other mines, so this is not an "authentic" experience, but again it was a learning experience. The young man who helped us identified all the stones for us and explained their characteristics. We invested in a more expensive bucket--$30--and it was worth it. We found amethyst, a ruby, sapphire, aquamarine, and garnet.

“Kids love it - Educational”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

The guided Tour into the mine was fabulous for kids - our Grandson was put 'in charge' of the group (for two minutes. he was 8 - the Guide only went to the back of the line) and loved it! Panning for Gold was fun too! Gift Shop was cute.

“Fantastic People - Fun Day!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012 via mobile

While visiting friends, I took a trip to Consolidated Gold Mine and the surrounding area. We opted to pan for gemstones and had a fantastic time. I've been to another gem mine that was a get down and dirty sort of place with no real gaurantee of finding anything. This is a little more family friendly - easier, less mess, and you'll come out with something. What struck me most is how wonderful all the people are who work there. I wish I got all their names, but Zach was a great help and very warm and personable and Miner Mike - well, he's quite the experience :) Would definitely stop by again!

“Great family adventure.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

We took our grandchildren, ages 6 and 8, for our first visit. We all had a wonderful time. The tour was interesting and appealed to all age levels. The "hands on" panning and gemstone activities were enjoyed by all. The kids can't wait for their next visit.
