“Overall pleasant stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

The hotel staff was excellent, especially the manager, Denise! They were very attentive to our needs and definitely made our stay more enjoyable. The surrounding area was okay, but the hotel could use some updates. Close to Fort Benning, which is perfect for graduation, which was the reason for our stay.

We've stayed here on 2 occasions and enjoyed both stays. The indoor pool is great, the rooms are clean and well maintained. The free breakfast was sufficient and the only complaint I have is that at 9 sharp they were pulling the breakfast.

Staff was ok. First shift wasn't very helpful. Second shift was helpful but left her smile at home. Room was ok. Outdated, but has nice tv. Sheets were stained. Had to get new ones. Very noisy and loud late at night. We were on the first floor. Ok, but will probably stay somewhere else my next trip down here.

We stayed at the Columbus in on Macon Rd. in Columbus, GA, while our son graduated from his Army Basic Training at Ft. Benning. The staff was extremely helpful and responded immediately to any question we had. The room was very clean and moderately spacious. The breakfast had good selections and had a staff person manning it. There was a small pool which we did not have time to use, but we were glad it was there, and would have used it if we had stayed longer. The price was reasonable. We used our AARP membership to get a discount. There is also a military discount which our son was able to use when he needed a room for one night after Basic Training and before his next assignment. This motel was only 5 miles from Ft. Benning and the access to and from the base was easy.

Arrived at hotel and didn't have reservations due to family members death only to find out the a retirement city of retirees had no military discount due to the military base being large. Always stay at Comfort Inn when traveling never again when going to Ft Benning. Had to select another hotel across the street that honored the retirees and veterans.

We pulled into the parking lot and there was not another car in sight. We thought they were closed as it was 5:30. Turns out there are just not many people traveling this day and our fears were completely unfounded.

We chose this chain to utilize points that were going to expire at years end, and we were quite satisfied with the quality of our room and the service. We made our reservations over the net and everything was as it should have been when we arrived. The reservation clerk, whose name may have been Mandy, was extremely personable and helpfull with local information. The room was a little on the small side, but adequate. It was clean and well furnished. This is not the Ritz, but the accomodations are good for the price paid. Bedding is good for the most part and the mattresses are comfortable.

Now for my big complaint with this chain;

THEIR PILLOWS ARE TERRIBLE!

I have complained about this with every level of management that I can contact and have written it up repeatedly on survey forms, but it never changes. They are unquestionably the WORST of any chain in the country. You can quite honestly, take their pillow and wad it up into a ball not much bigger than a softball. We usually carry our own pillows when we are staying at a choice motel, but space did not allow that luxury on this trip.

All in all a good stay and we would stay here again.......with our own pillows.

Room Tip: Take your own pillows

Nothing fancy, but that is never my concern with hotels. Comfortable bed, quite area, good staff, has indoor pool, fitness center and free wi-fi. I didn't use pool or fitness room, but both looked to be in good condition. This was a remodeled hotel, not the best remodel, but again, to me, it only matters that it is clean and comfortable, which this met that criteria. Breakfast was good, again, nothing spectacular, but certainly much more than the "continental breakfast" of pastries and coffee. If I was in the area again, this would probably be where I would stay.
