“Great Place For Special Occasions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2014

We took my mother-in-law and friends for a group occasion and it was great. Good food, great service, and reasonable prices for large groups. Everyone left stuffed. My family has eaten there other times and the food has always been very good.

“Favorite Chinese restaurant in the US”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

When my wife and I first to Columbus GA from Finland it was the first time she had Chinese food in the take out boxes so that alone made it magical for her, but the underfloor fish tank with the Koi was a homerun for both of us...then top it off with exceptionally good Chinese food. That was in 2002. We returned in June of 2013 with our now 6-year old daughter and she was just as taken. Food was still just as good.

“Reasonable and delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

Chef Lee's has an excellent lunch menu with reasonable prices ($6.50 or so which includes soup, rice, egg roll, & dumplings). Service was great and good was delicious and fresh! We will return soon!

“The person that recommended this one exaggerated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

I asked for a recommendation at the hotel and the manager recommended Chef Lee"s Peking Rest. The said it was "the best". It was average; in fact the take out Chinese place near my house food is better than this restaurant. The service was good and even thought it was packed the sat me quickly and the food came pretty fast.

“Can we sit first?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013 via mobile

We went to Chef Lee's for a late lunch (about 1:45 and their lunch is from 11-3) on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. There were 5 of us -- 2 arrived early and were seated a few minutes before the rest of us arrived. Before we even sat down, the waiters began pushing us to order. They brought water and asked for our orders before we even looked at the menu. We ordered hot tea and were asked our soup choices since we hadn't made decisions on entrees. The soup came out immediately, and we were asked again for our orders. In about 5 minutes, we were asked at least a half dozen times for our orders.
When the food arrived, it was not very good. The egg rolls were soggy. The Mongolian beef was hard crispy, like it had been rewarmed. The breading on the sesame chicken and sweet sour shrimp weren't correct. As soon as the food was delivered, however, the waiters disappeared to clear other tables and set them for dinner. No one checked to see if we needed anything; we had to catch them to get more hot tea. Suddenly, the bill was laid on the table with the usual fortune cookies. We arrived well before the end of lunch, and the restaurant wasn't crowded, so that wasn't the problem.

We have eaten early dinner at Chef Lee's many times over the years. Food is usually good, but we won't go back if this is the way they treat customers and prepare food now.
