This property has gone through a variety of signs, from years as a Hilton, a brief stay with Wyndham, and now a Marriott. WIth luck, this last change will stick.
The hotel is located in the restored historic district, opposite the old iron foundry which has been converted to a convention facility, and within an easy walk of the riverfront walking parks.
The lobby is large, spacious, and neat and clean, and gives a good first impression, but the best "first impression" was the front desk staff. I don't believe I've ever encountered a more friendly and helpful hotel employee than the young man who checked me in (unless it was the woman who ran the gift shop -- also outstanding).
The room was exactly what (and where) I had requested. Usual amentities, with the nice touch of both wired and wireless internet available. Bathroom is small, but had the new-style large shower head. Bedding was great; pillows were plentiful.
There's a Houlihan's (as I recall) as the house restaurant. Standard fern bar food, loud music on occasions, but friendly and helpful staff.
My overall impression is very positive, primarily because of the attitude of every employee I encountered. This is frequently an expressions of the attitute and concerns of management, and someone at this Marriott is doing everything right.
Overall: very good hotel, great staff. This will be my first choice when I return to the Columbus area.
