Stopped in for fish lunch while visiting my son after Airborne graduation. Important for those of us from "up north": this place offers the usual southern fried fish AND grilled, so no need to pick all the fried cover off the fish if that's how you roll. Food was fresh, hushpuppies were excellent! Slightly browned on the outside, cooked through on the inside without being dry with just a touch of maple syrup flavor. Usual choice of sides, salad was crispy lettuce and fresh tomatoes, so spare but crunchy. Dressing on the side not a problem as is can be in these smaller eateries. Skipper himself is a friendly guy with just the right amount of down home chattiness and even on a day when a storm had knocked out the electiricity the night before so that all the transactions had to be handled with a hand calculator, check out was fast and easy. Beer served along with the sweet tea you'd expect to get in a southern eatery. In a town with limited restaurant options that are not chain-linked, Skipper's is worth a visit for those of us who savor the opportunity to try something home-grown.
