Owner description: The National Infantry Museum emphasizes the values that define the Infantryman, as well as the nation he protects: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. It preserves and displays one of the greatest collections of military artifacts in the world, but it is a museum of people, not things. As a visitor, you will meet the Infantryman face to face and join him on his journey. You will come to understand why an Infantryman does what he does, why he puts himself in harm’s way in defense of an idea and you will leave transformed, just as the Infantry transforms the man into the Soldier. The 190,000-square-foot museum opened in June 2009 on a 200-acre tract of hardwoods and pines just outside the gates of the Fort Benning Maneuver Center of Excellence.

“Awesome Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

This was an incredible museum. It takes you through the history of the US Infantryman and has numerous historical displays. It's attention to detail is amazing and the the museum experience is very humbling. The museum also has a very nice restuarant and an IMAX theatre. Parking is plentiful and you do not even have to go on post to get to the theatre. On the back side of the museum is a World War II Army Camp to further show what life was like. There is no entrance fee to the museum but a donation is highly encouraged. This museum is a must for anyone in the Coumbus, GA area.

“Great museum! Great for kids too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

Really interesting museum. Kids can dress up in army clothes and also simulate shooting military guns. It's very interactive and you can spend hours there. There's a 5-story IMAX theater (though we didn't have time to go). It is definitely recommended if you're looking for something to do in Columbus - good for the whole family.
