After reading the fantastic reviews on this site, I decided that this was it--this was the hotel that I must stay in for my visit to ATL. It seemed perfect: 4-star hotel, relatively cheap pricing, plasma tv, nice bedsheets, etc. However, when i arrived at the location, i soon realized that the area where the hotel is located is dead. It is nowhere near any attractions, local food venues, or even a fast food joint. The hotel is in a very green area, but driving towards the location, it looks isolated and somewhat scary--especially at night. This didn't bother me so much, since I grew up in urban areas so I'm used to it, but I think that other travelers would be interested in knowing this particular detail.
The hotel is big--perhaps too big for its own good. The hotel staff is very friendly. They accordingly accommodated us to our room. The bed sheets were indeed as nice as the reviews here: they were soft and made you want to go into a deep sleep.
Upon arriving to our room, my mom decided to make a phone call to let her friend known that we had arrived to our destination. Five minutes into her phone call, we heard banging on the wall. I didnt think much about it, until i realized that right next door there was a couple fighting. The walls MUST be paper thin because you could hear everything. It seemed like an earthquake at times.
The hotel staff switched us to a different room after we notified them about what was going on. However, when we arrived to the new room, we realized that the ceiling was messed up. It seemed that it must have been leaking before and they tried to cover it up, but it was not covered up properly. It looked like if i was to touch it, the ceiling would completely fall on me. Check pictures to see what it looked like, if you are curious. Later the next night, I found a bug in the hotel bathroom. We complained the next morning, and a staff member just apologized and said "is there anything I can do to make your stay any pleasant?" but we were kind of in a hurry to leave that we didn't really have the time to ask for anything. The thing that rubbed me the wrong way about complaining was that the staff member didn't allow us to complain directly to the manager or supervisor.
Overall, the hotel was okay, but I would definitely not stay there again. It was very noisy and a bit inconvenient for me. I think my review is being a bit too nice; i know that if some of you experienced the same thing, you would be giving this hotel 1 star and wouldn't have stayed there for the whole week.
