The first day we arrived I knew we had made the right choice. Just driving up and seeing quaint beauty and we manicured landscape brought a smile to my face. Then as a took in the total package of the pristine cottages not to mention the sweet set of 4hotel rooms. They had the good since to save them. After meeting Frank the owner, I learned he started from scratch, poured his heart into bringing the lost era of hotel back to life. Well he did that and more! each room has it's own theme. The rooms are spotless. Nice kitchen area and the shower in our room "The Dogwood" is awesome. You gotta try it. And last but not least by ant means Miss Sue who manages Mountain Aire Cotteges is so nice and friendly. The best by far all around. We will be back many times I'm sure. Can't wait to see the area in the fall! Let's just say we will stay cozy and happy. Thanks Frank for giving so much of yourself to this wonderful place.

We have spent the third week in October every year for 10 years at Mountain Aire Cottages. We've stayed in individual rooms (The Mountain Lodge and The Dogwood Room) cottages (The Mountain View Cottage and The Clear View Cottage) and also the Hillside House . All of these accommodations were cozy, clean and well equipped. From the very first visit we were treated more like family than lodge guests. Frank (Inn Keeper) and his family make Mountain Aire Cottages our second home. The beauty of the surrounding Clayton area is just icing on the cake. We look forward to our stay all year long.

After checking in at 3 and resting for an hour, our child and I began sneezing, coughing, and eyes watered. Son got an asthma attack. We showered, thinking it must have been something from outside. Went to dinner, child got a little better, came back, child got worse again. Spotted mold on furniture. Smelt like a cat through the air vent. Had to check out within 4 hours of checking in. Came home feeling better, opened luggage and eyes started watering again. Had to wash everything and throw away bags and containers that had been in there. Otherwise, it was a cute motel. We chose it specifically because they do not allow pets or smoking.

Just outside of Clayton's downtown, on the side of a wooded hill, is the delightful Mountain Aire motel. A friendly greeting awaits you from both Frank, the owner, and Abigail the spaniel. The rooms are just as welcoming - large and comfortable, individually decorated (my room had a bear theme), with a kitchenette and small dining area as well. The big comfy queen bed was perfect after a long days' drive. My only regret? I couldn't stay longer!
