We stayed at the the Quality Inn while in Clayton for a hiking trip. They have jacuzzi suites there, but we just got a regular room for my son & me. When we checked in, we were assigned to a room on the second floor. Since I had a large cooler & picnic basket along with the other stuff, I asked if there was a room on the first floor that we could be switched to. There was a "pet suite" we were switched to, but it was unacceptable--too funky-smelling--so the clerk switched us back to the second-floor room we were originally assigned to & that was fine.
The room was nothing fancy but certainly adequate. Jonna, the evening desk clerk, was very helpful and helped us find a nice Mexican restaurant in town. There was a cottage on the property where it seemed that a family from India stayed--there were three of them; I think the youngest one was the night clerk, and the older couple were the housekeepers. Seemed a little unusual for a major chain to have a setup like that but it worked OK, though the older couple spoke very little English.
Amenities: the place had a swimming pool, which was closed for maintenance and would have been closed for the season anyway. Continental breakfast was the usual carb-heavy fare. Location was right on US 441, close to everything but, hey, it's a small town.
Best feature: Jonna, the evening desk clerk. Worst feature: one of the housekeepeers needed to take a bath.
