I love reviewing places I've eaten or stayed, I enjoy giving the praise and thanks that are do, for great service and food.....and like to give warning to people about those places that are better off left untouched.
This waffle house was one of them. On the night before thanksgiving my husband and I stopped in for some grub on our way to Asheville for the holidays. Two employees, one cook one server. They were pretty busy but not packed, so we walked in knowing things were pally gonna be slow. No big deal. Its a waffle house so we know what to expect food wise, and service is typically the same no matter what location u go to. Our server, amber, took drink and food orders at the same time. Husband had the steak I had the Texas bacon cheesesteak melt. I heard the cook ask the waiter how the steak was supposed to be done, and she told him medium, he replied, "its well done." After waiting a lengthy time for the food, out came the well done steak. My husbands hasbrowns, eggs and toast were all cold. My Texas bacon cheesesteak melt, was only a cheesesteak melt,no bacon. I only received a single order of hashbrowns, the meal comes with a double order. I mentioned this to amber she said okay ill take care of it.
Amber never returned. With anything. No refills, no bringing the food that was left off....nothing. Okay fine. She brings the bill and I look it over and see she charged me for a meal I didnt receive. At this time I pointed out the discrepancies in the bill,the service and the quality of the food she served. She looked me in the eye, said "oh well" and walked off. Here's where the fun began.
She tried to tell me they were busy and that there was nothing she could do about the food and that we could call her manager. So she reluctantly gave us the number. During this time, I told her I was not going to pay the bill until she made some adjustments bc I was charged for a meal she didnt give me. She said all she was going to do is give me a 10% dissatisfied customer discount....I said that's not what I want, I want u to take off the. Meal I didnt order and charge me for the meal I received. At this point she called 911 and said she had a customer refusing to pay. Within minutes the cop shows up and I start telling him what happened. In the meantime my husband finally gets the manager on the phone and is talking to her while I am talking to the police. When everything was said and done we walked out of there not having to pay at all bc the manager was livid with the girl....here's hoping she no longer has a job. Thanks to the manager for doing the right thing...
