“Bear Dancer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Just left from my second 4 day trip to Wilderness View Cabins in the past 2 months. I waited to write a review until after the second trip to be sure the first trip experience wasn't an anomaly and it wasn't. This trip we stayed in Bear Dancer, it has an amazing mountain view and at night, not 1 light can be seen, it's that unspoiled. This is truly naked in the hot tub kind of private. We were visited by a mother black bear with her 3 cubs as they foraged around the cabin. This is truly deep in the woods folks. You won't have cell signal, but great wi-fi so you can communicate via your lap top or cell via Facebook DM's, etc. There is also a land line with free long distance, the phone is cheap and noisy but it gets the job done. Great place to get away and worth the travel to get there! Great for romance or family outings, lots to do within 30 minutes.

My husband and I spent a couple of days in the Windrush cabin and completely fell in love with the area. The cabin far exceeded our expectations. The primitive style details combined with modern comfort was a perfect blend, especially in the upstairs loft bedroom. I remarked to the Wilderness View Cabin management how ultra clean the cabin was inside and out. The view was incredible from the hot tub and nothing was lacking in our stay. The only concern we had was the driveway from the main road to the cabin which was uncomfortably steep...but with an AWD car we actually had little issue getting up and down the driveway even in the rain. Wonderful management office with friendly and helpful staff. Will stay again.

The positives: Coyote Bluff is a beautiful house with gorgeous views rented by a friendly, professional staff. It is very clean and the water pressure is acceptable. After all, it's on top of a mountain. The secluded outdoor hot tub was a great addition and felt great after rafting, hiking, horseback riding, etc. There are plenty of cooking items, a great grill, and plenty of fresh towels. Believe it when they say they keep no food, other than salt and pepper, at all in the cabin. We also saw a black bear on the private road to the cabin which was exciting and another two bears while we were horseback riding nearby. Each morning we were eager to see what gorgeous new moths were clinging to the side of the cabin under the security light. They were so beautiful!

Nearby attractions worth considering: Ocoee Rafting Company, Ziplines of Blue Ridge, GA, Fort Mountain State Park, Fort Mountain Stables Horseback Riding, and the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga. All are recommended.

The negatives: Reviews are not particularly helpful if they are all glowing remarks so, at the risk of sounding nit-picky, I offer a few things that may be worth knowing if you get serious about renting coyote bluff. The house itself is loud. It's a wooden cabin so it creaks and pops all night long as the house reacts to changing temperatures. Earplugs would not a be a bad idea if you're a light sleeper. The dryer had a missing knob making it unusable. Luckily, I had pliers in the car so was able to grip the metal shaft but there is no way you can grip it with your hand. The huge wall of windows faces East-North East so at dawn the bedroom and the loft are flooded with light. Blackout blinds would help but they only have cheap roll up blinds which do not stop the sunlight. There is a bathroom in the loft with the queen bed but, if you are using the king size bed downstairs, you must go through the living/dining/kitchen area because the downstairs is off the kitchen area instead of being attached to the master bedroom. Finally, the private road to the cabin is super steep. I made it in my Prius so you probably can too but you may slip a little in some cars. This was a problem when I was attempting to drive out after a heavy rain. There was a place in the road where I nearly got stuck. I had to take three running starts before I made it out. It was not a huge deal but make sure your brakes and tires are in good shape because you are going to need them.

Room Tip: If you don't like very steep roads, choose a cabin closer to the main asphalt road. Coyote Bluff...

Wonderful experience. Great place to get away from it all!! We chose to bring all we needed for 4 days and 3 nights and didn't leave the cabin. The views were breathtaking and the accomodations were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with pretty much everything you needed except of course the food. The hot tub was perfect as we had some cooler days with rain while we were there. We actually enjoyed the rain. It was relaxing to sit and listen to the rain while watching from the covered deck. We enjoyed listening to satellite music stations, playing pool and relaxing in the steam shower. This place was great for a anniversary getaway. The only problem we had was the gas grill was out of gas and as soon as we called for help someone promptly came and brought us more . Samantha was very helpful with helping us book especially at the last minute, and called to check on us after we had time to get settled a bit to see if we had everything we needed. We would highly recommend this Wilderness View Cabin for a couple or even a small family getaway. We will definitely be back. Soon I hope. Items to remember to take: foil, bug spray and hangers. There was dish soap and dishwasher detergent but you need to bring laundry supplies.

My children and I visited Racoon Lodge in June 2013. This was a completely positive experience. Kelly went above and beyond to get the info I needed and get my last minute cabin ready. The teenagers loved the pool table. We all loved the hot tub and the steam shower. The view from the porch was amazing, especially from the hammock or the hot tub. We cooked on the grill and in the kitchen. There is a laundry room so you don't even have to pack much. There is a catfish pond and walking trails. I HIGHLY recommend!

We have been visiting wilderness view cabins for over 11 yrs. Robert, Liz and their staff are wonderful. There is a variety of cabins to choose from with views if the blue ridge mtns. We take our food to cook throughout the wk and only leave the cabin to go to "play" if we want too. Money and time well spent. You'll love it!!
