Like all the reviews say the view is amazing. Alas, there was a B & B about 1/2 mile west of the lodge with the same views and there is no way it could have been as bad. The place is rundown, and the food was terrible! And, it was VERY expensive. There were two cleaning women that were nice, but that is it.
It was amazing that there were so many not-helpful people in one place. The staff were not helpful at all. The owner was not helpful and not nice.
The owner told us one night that he was the owner and showed us photos hanging on the wall of all the other hotels he had been in charge of in the past. The next morning when we were supposed to get a special rate because everything was so messed up he told us that he would have to get the owner, and couldn't change the rates!!!? We called him on it. "You are the owner"! Oh yeah.
I stayed in the Hunter's cabin and it was clean and cute. Except for the two lawn and leaf bags full of trash that had been ripped open by animals spread all around the cabin, diapers, beer bottles you name it! I asked over and over again for it to be cleaned up. I even told them I would do it if they gave me a few bags. No dice!
I would recommend that instead of staying here or eating here or just about anything here.. that you go down the road to Ft. Mountain State Park and rent a cabin for a fraction of the price, with really friendly people to help you!
This is place is not clean, the help rude, the food bad, rundown, etc.; you need to spend some time looking at other options so you won't waste your time and money.
