- One 5 differnet visits they claimed to be out of bread.

- On a visit with 10 family members, my father's steak came out during desserts. That was after notifying the staff 3 times that it was dragging.

- On another visit, the waitress deliverd my steak to the table only to spill the au jus from the plate all down my shirt and crotch. Then she dropped the plate in front of me and ran away...and never came back...Idiot!

- On our last visit, the jacka$$ owner tried to start a fight with me becuase I politely complained about ONIONS in a REUBEN. Who on this earth puts Onions on a Reuben? He got nose to nose with me and started raising his voice asking me if I had a problem. He then started this dance like a lunatic and started yelling at me about Murphy's Law and his bread oven.

- I have heard many many people complain about this guy and the service. I wish he would close up shop and leave town....Jerk!

- STOP giving this guy business!!!!

The Appalachian Grill is a quaint restaurant in Cartersville, GA . It is a very busy restaurant and people do not like the fact that they do not take reservations or seat incomplete parties. The reson for this is they cannot hold the tables open. The restaurant only seats 88 people and if they held tables, then the servers would not be able to turn that table over in an adequate amount of time, and since MOST servers rely on thier tips to pay bills and only make $2.13 an hour surely you can understand this. With that said, there are, however many flaws. The Appalachian Grill received a health score of 69 when inspected July 25, 2007 with three category I violations, five category II violations and two category III violations. They were, however given a chance to rectify the situation and received a rating of 98. I can tell you, from personal experience, that I would not eat there again as I know how the food is prepared. First, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and grits are portioned during the day using plastic containers, When the food in the container is used it is put through the dishwasher, but not necessarily clean the containers are usually greasy or dirty and not wiped out which I personally feel is gross, then the container is reused to portion these items the next day,. Second, the meals that have pasta on them are heated up with the appropriate sauce in the microwave in the same plastic containers that are used for portioning. Third, the ribs are cleaned in the same sink that is used for dumping mop buckets and frozen food is thawed out in the same sink. Fourth, As food is done it is put on a shelf, called a window, under heating lamps until all the food on that ticket is done and can be served all at the same time. If there is an entre that is just waiting on fries and there are old ones in the window, the old ones are flashed in the oil so that food can go out. I, for one will not be eating at The Appalachian Grill any longer.

“Good food but not worth the poor service”

We arrived early to avoid the wait. When asked how large our party was the hostess marked a booth on her chart, but when I told her we had two kids she changed our booth and under her breath told the other hostess that we had two kids and to seat us in the back near the kitchen. Not a good start to the evening. The food was good but when we received our check we noticed that we were charged for a full salad instead of a side salad. When we asked that it be addressed the waiter proceeded to blame my wife because she did not make it clear that she wanted a side salad. He tried to cover himself and said that this happens all the time but still would not adjust our check. They lost our future business over $3. Not a very customer friendly experience to say the least.

I went there the other night and had a really enjoyable experience. It was a little hard to find, but all you have to do is park in the main open square in Cartersville and walk over until you are literally under the bridge. The decor is awesome and it has a great atmosphere. We started with some shrimp bisque and popcorn crawfish. The shrimp bisque was absolutely awesome. I definitely recommend it. I personally enjoyed the popcorn crawfish and in particular the dipping sauces that came with the plate, but my date was not so hot on them. The salads were large and I recommend trying the house dressing. We both also had sweet tea, which you could tell was made fresh. The grouper I had was incredible. My date got the mountain trout and was dissapointed to see that it was fried...I don't know if it's preparation was clear on the menu. I was a little dissapointed in the way the trout tasted. If you are going for some fish, I would go the grouper route. We ended with some perfectly made creme brulee. I was very pleased with the overall experience.
