GREAT FOOD ND SERViCE

This place has good food, but terrible service and rude hostesses. There is no call ahead seating or reservations. Plus, you cannot sit with more than 6 people per party. My fiance and I were just engaged and traveled 50 miles to this resturant (we've eaten here on dates) to celebrate with our families. We had a party of 10 and were referred to the sister restaurant Hearth and Harvest. This place delivered my fiance's chicken at the end of the meal because she had messed up the order. And then STILL CHARGED US for the meal. They made no big deal out of the engagement and the whole table felt awkward eating because of the missing meal. At least comp the meal or bring a brownie to celebrate. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! We wish we would have.

My wife and I have eaten there several times, but the last time the owner/chef stopped by the table. We were eating the bourbon marinated salmon, but it was accompanied with kale which we thought was unusual, not bad, just unusual. In a normal voice he said "f-u", then, "Oh, my goodness, I didn't mean to say that!
We sit there dazed for a few moments to let what happen sink in, then got up and left.

My family and I have eaten here many times and the food and service has always been excellent. Anytime a family member comes to town, we always make a point to bring them to the Appalachian. My sister will be visiting shortly and "the girls" always do lunch here. Don't stop what your doing here. It's great!
