I'm amazed by the positive reviews for this property. Maybe my standards are just too high, but I was pretty disappointed.
I ended up here for two reasons: 1) It was dark and rainy, and I was ready to get off the road and 2) the Holiday Inn Express was booked solid. Seeing decent reviews for this hotel, I made it my second choice.
Check-in was quick and the person at the front desk was nice. The room, however, was disappointing (see the attached pictures for examples). It smelled musty, the furniture was long past needing replacement, the construction was shoddy in terms of detail work, the sheets didn't look particularly clean, there were only two towels in the bathroom (one of which was stained), the bed was uncomfortable, and the "work" desk had no plugs anywhere near it for a laptop.
The nice lady working the front desk did give me additional towels at my request, to her credit. And the room--while desperately needing an overhaul--was plenty spacious.
And that free continental breakfast? Even for free, we weren't interested. I saw nothing that looked even the slightest bit appealing, so we drove to a restaurant and paid.
The best I can say is that the room was inexpensive, and you get what you pay for. But if I were driving through the area again and the Holiday Inn were full, I'd get right back on the interstate and look for something else.
I doubt there are any "good" rooms at this hotel. If you want a good room, go somewhere el...
