While returning home from Brunswick, decided to get off I-95 northbound and take the 99 to highway 17. Hadn't gone that way in years. Saw the sign Mudcat Charlie's, and checked it out. I was early, but talking with a local seemed like the thing to do. Let's face it -- I'll talk to a wall. He knew the menu practically by heart, and when he said great hamburgers made fresh daily, I decided to give it a try. Checked out the menu, and settled on the hamburger, and I was certainly not disappointed. Made fresh, no question about it, and cooked exactly like I ordered it. One of the best hamburgers I've had in years. Located right on the river, with lots of boats at docks, very clean, staff super friendly, and about a half hour wait for the meal which was okay with me. (A group of about 20 law enforcement personnel from the training academy had pre-ordered and showed up just as they opened up) The menu has everything you want in a seafood/steak restaurant, but that will be for another visit. I only live about 50 minutes away, so plan to try a night visit for steak or chicken fingers. I actually don't eat fish, but enjoy the atmosphere.
