Coastal Pines at one time was one of my favorite courses to play while down in the Brunswick/Golden Isles area. It has a great layout, was always in great shape, was never super crowded, and the price was always right. The carts were also wired with GPS navigation to assist with your yardages. I am not sure if recent years the course has switched ownership but the current ownership of Coastal Pines appears to not put any money back into this facility. The greens were absolutely awful and appeared to look like a first cut of fairway. They would probably roll to a 3 or 4 if they were measured it was that bad! Also, after a storm most courses greenskeepers would go around the course and clean up any debris that had fallen from trees etc…. Coastal Pines looks like it hasn’t done this in weeks as there is debris not only in the rough but in the middle of the fairways. Also, the 9 hole rate is the same as the 18 hole rate which makes no sense.
There is no snackbar at Coastal Pines and no drink cart ( as I believe there used to be one back in the day if I am not mistaken) The pro hsop has some hats and shirts to purchase with their logo on it but not an abundence.
It’s a real shame because this golf course has such a good layout. It is open enough where you have some room to make mistakes but still is challenging enough for better players. Coastal Pines is one of those places that you yearn for its better days.
