We stayed here as part of a 4,000+ mile road trip from Tucson, AZ to Wilmington, NC & back. I stayed here with my husband, my friend, & my dog. We got a suite because we needed a fridge & microwave & a place for my friend to sleep. This was only the second time I had ever stayed in a Microtel & we all loved the little window bed, it's so cute. There was also a couch & a small dining table in the suite. The room was very nice & clean. There was some kind of sports team staying in the hotel & they were checking in at the same time that we were. I expected it to be loud in the hotel because of them, but I didn't hear a thing! The Internet was extremely slow, I'm not sure if it's always like that or if it was from so many people trying to use it at once.
The staff did seem very eager to get us out of the hotel the next day, which I found strange. None of us who were traveling are morning people, so we asked for a late checkout. The person at the front desk told us we could have an extra hour, but then called our room 45 minutes later to see if we were out yet. With 3 people & a dog on such a long road trip, we had a ton of stuff to carry out to the car & we were on the 4th floor. When I tried to get back into the hotel room to get the last of our stuff, my key card did not work. They had de-activated it at exactly the late checkout time, so I had to go down to the front desk to get them to re-activate it, then back to the 4th floor, back to the car, then to the front desk to check out. When I got to the front desk to check out, the man behind the counter said, "Checkout was at 11." I told him we had called & gotten a late checkout & he said, "It's after noon." At first I thought he was joking, so I gave a small laugh, but he didn't laugh. This was at about 12:10PM & we would have even been out a few minutes earlier if I didn't have to come down to get my key card re-activated. I know technically we were still late, but we've never had another hotel say anything about a few minutes before. Luckily they didn't try to charge us for an extra day or anything, but it felt very awkward. I'd still stay there again if I was in the area because the room was great.
